Lux identity?

I just recently acquired a beautiful late model Electrolux 1521 in a mauvy-taupish color. This machine doesn't have a scratch on it, even has the celophane over the plate on top of the power nozzle. I'm sure this is one of the last metal bodied machines of the Ultralux series, does anyone know where it falls in the line of production. It runs great but the suction doesn't seem to be quite as good as my Olympias, is the motor different? Any info will be appreciated...thanks.

Sounds like a Marquise to me. It was built around 1987. The metal models after that are the Grand Marquise - white with blue, Legacy - same as Grand Marquise, Ultralux - same as legacy but with name lable, Ultralux LX - White with blue and gold, Ultralux Classic - blue with white. The Marquise was the second model in the 1521 series after the Diamond Jubille.

If it is in good shape is should be as powerful as an Olympia. The motor is different but is should have about the same power if not more.

Does it look like this? If you want pictures of the motors or other lux models from the same time period I can post them.

Thanks for the info Erick! I have the matching(?) LE plastic model in equally good shape. Finally found my suction guage, the Oly pulls a little over 70, the Marquis and LE almost 80. Is that a respectable read on the suction?

I think those numbers sound good although I have never tested any vacuums with a suction guage before. The Marquise and LE should be even as they have the same motor as far as I know. As long as they all sound smooth and have enough suction for you then I'd say your all set. If you want a little more power make sure you use genuine bags as the after market bags perform differently.

The LE is a quite a nice vacuum and it's cool that you get to have a set with both a plastic and a metal canister. The LE and Marquise were only two sets that I can think of that have both a metal and plastic canister. The other would be the Ultralux LX, Diplomat LX plastic canister and the Genesis LX Upright(I think). To have a complete set I think you need an upright and floor polisher of the same colors.

My favorite plastic canisters don't have a metal canister to go with them so your lucky. I'd like to get a Regency series canister, upright and polisher set. They were light blue and were very nice looking. The Special Edition (dark red) is also one of my favorites but I just sold the one I have and it is going to Ohio Tuesday.
