Too much for the vacuum and plus almost $150 for shipping alone! pretty pricey, but a nice machine, and it even comes with a power nozzle. If i were you, i'd just email the seller with a reasonable offer, and see if they accept. If not their loss because it'd be going to a nice home.

My Guess.....

....Is that we will see this relisted for a more reasonable number. If not, he will likely own this for a very long time. It is a very nice machine!

I may be wrong in this and please correct me if I am but, although the machine looks great, I suspect it isnt original. If memory serves me correctly the first CB (which this is surposed to be given the colour and PN)did not have a chrome tank on it. The tank was the painted to match the top. Same on the second CB which was a brown to match the G (see picture below). The chrome tank appeared with the third (darker blue top, chrome tank to match the 1205) and fourth (brown top, chrome tank to match the 1401) machines.

Wow,,,at the most, that machine,as old as it is, (even tho its in good condition)is not worth more than a couple hundred,,if even that.
Sorry to say my experience with the CB machines was not real great.

We had 2 of these vacs at the trade school i went to in the late 1970s,(the new students had to help with the clean up),and
I was supprised at how poor the suction was,,,on both machines,,even when the bin was empty, and the filter was clean, the suction was not any better (and actually less) than a cannister lux of the same vintage. I remember being very supprised at the poor level of suction.
The only advantage i could see about the CB machine was that it was larger than a regular Lux, and you didnt have to change the bag. (or empty it) as often.
Im affraid these machines look alot more powerful than what they really are. They are also very clunky, and hard to drag around, seems like the cannister was always getting hung up on something, and you had to go back and un hook it everytime you turned around.

The newer 1980s models may have been more powerful than the older generation, but still way over priced, IMHO.

maybe

if i recall correctly the reason for the poor suction is that the same motors were used from the normal luxes of the time. This made the larger applications(including a longer hose)ineffective with the smaller motor.

To Dirtfinder

Hi, I've got about 3 or 4 of those big CB's, if you are looking for one I'd be happy to make you a good deal on one. The ones I have are all the later models, the 1205 colored tops, with chrome tanks. If I recall correctly, all the machines have the larger more powerful motors in them, I will be glad to check them over and service the motors in them. With a hose and powerhead, I'd make you a good deal on one, with shipping, I'd let you have one for $200.00.

Let me know if you'd be interested.
Sincerely,
Nathan L. Thomas
