I'm looking to get a decent bagged upright vacuum for my model railroad club, and am looking for recommendations.

-The place has a mix of carpets, bare-floors, and these floor-puzzle tile mat things, though this machine would mostly be used for carpets, as we have Shop-Vacs and other machines to cover the other surfaces. That being said, I'd like it to have a brushroll shutoff.

-I want something that's a clean-air design.

-I want a machine that has tools on board (preferably 1 1/4 tools).

-I want something that's not overly complex to service/maintain, aka something that'll take abuse.

-Something brand new is ideal, but I'm willing to get a used machine as long as it's cheap enough and in good enough condition.

Any ideas?

The Sebo Felix, and its commercial sister Karcher CV300, fits the bill exactly. Add the bare floor tool and you don't have to worry about the brush roll anymore. It might be worth waiting for a good deal on eBay for a used or refurbished model. The Prolux 9000 also checks all your boxes. If you can stomach spending $500 those would be my recommendations.

I agree with kirbyman65, a used Riccar with a belt clutch would probably be your best bet for the money.
