I'm in search of a nice Packard vacuum cleaner to display with my Packard car. Complete with a nice bag preferred, attachments would be a bonus. If anyone has one for sale, let me know!

Funny story about a 48!

My Mothers first cousin got married in 1950, the same year my Parents did, She and her new Husband drove his Dads 48 yellow Packard convertible on their honeymoon,She was know as somewhat of a hot rodder, so She just had to find out how fast the Packard would run, now mind you the Packard had overdrive on it, with the overdrive engaged she said it would do 70 in first, 110 in second and would bury the needle in high!!!! She is 82 and still doesent poke around!!LOL

Beautiful Packard you have there Brandon! One of the finest cars ever! Had a Great-Uncle who never drove anything else, think his last one before he passed away was a 53 or 54 Clipper.

Thanks! It's a 23rd Series 1949 Super Deluxe Eight Touring Sedan with overdrive & Electromatic clutch. I usually take something with an automatic transmission to the Woodward dream cruise, sitting in bumper to bumper traffic for hours in the heat is a great way to overheat your clutch (and engine, for that matter).

Would like a nice Packard vacuum

I have one (pretty sure 98% ) in dry storage up at my folks house, very Similar to the one you have a pic of. EXCEPT I think mine has the JAR lid bag opening. You are welcome to it (for NADA, FREE and ZILCH) as I haven't touched it in almost a decade now. Next time Im up and will shoot pics of it, and then will contact you.. it does run, and I THINK has a icky white replacement cord on it. That can easily be fixed. Beautiful Bathtub BTW.....;-)

Perhaps I can pick the Packard up IN a Packard

That would be awesome. I do like Packards. That isn't a secret....LOL!! I also have a Coffee can Hoover possibly a 725 you can have for parts for your others, if you'd like. It may be a week or so till I'm up there next, but as soon as I get them, I'll throw you a message here, and we can make plans to exchange goods...

Chad

My very favorite Packard ever....

Any senior 56' for that matter...

I also just came across this cool Packard Electric shaver the other day. Looks like it was never used! I wonder what other "Packard" appliances there are out there?

Well not sure......BUT

I did grab the Packard Vacuum this weekend, and it is, in fact a later one made by P.A. Geier (Royal)....It does say "Packard DeLuxe" on it, on the nozzle cap, and on the bag. Which is presentable, but faded and the bag graphics have too!! It is NOT a round cap top model, but a later one with a slide clamp bag, much like a Royal would have had. I know I USED to have an earlier Packard with that bag, but god only knows where it's gone to. If you still want it, Im going to pull it into the store tomorrow and give it a go over. It runs SUPER smooth tho. And unless YOU would like to leave it as is with the white cord, I can see if I have anything that will do to change it to a black cord.

I'm honestly unsure of what it woulda come with. Fabric cord, or a rubber. But the 1930's when these were being made, rubber WAS the standard type of cord for vacuums.

Later on today, I'll post some pics of it....

An Update to the Packard Deluxe Model 1949...

I was finally able to get the machine here into my store today and get it polished and put on the new cord. It was looking a little worn from sitting under my folks basement stairs in storage for the last decade, so I wanted to give it a nice hand polish. As you can see by the pictures, it runs and is immediately ready to show. I will be available all day Sunday.. in fact there is a car show going on in Brighton Michigan maybe we could meet there and you could get the Packard for your Packard!!
