thats absolutely brilliant we used to have all that with our 55 years ago and i have the main book somewhere in the house ive seen it in the last few years! its here somewhere, but i havent got the part where the dog is being cleaned etc... though i do remember seeing it when i was a kid but i know thats long gone. now Doug, these parts you are looking for.... refresh my memory...

Hi Si:

I was trying to find the sage green rug nozzle, crevice tool and the clip that holds the brush onto the top of the machine for the ZC90. The charcoal dual dusting brush and the brush head for the crevice tool for the model 330 and the crevice tool and paint sprayer for the model 30. I need copys of the instruction manuals for all of these machines too.

Yesteryear Elegance

Very nice looking vacuum. I love those old manuals too...they really make cleaning with an Electrolux look "elegant". I don't think I've ever seen a storage method like that, though. I'd be afraid it would fall down.

Excellent buy there Simon, I`m sure there are bits n bobs around to make a complete set!!! this was my Grans vac, although she upgraded the main floor tool to the pink/cream one from the Z65 when it came out....lovely & quiet..

Hi Doug, those Z90`s are like gold dust, will certainly keep eyes open for spares though, i have the instructions so i`ll start scanning....

yea all the series seemed to have the hanging bracket from z30 right thru to z80/trident. My parents wouldnt risk our 55 when i was a kid, but i hung my "challenge" ( burgundy and grey 65 body) up like that for years! it never came down!!

Hi Si. By a strange coincidence, I was looking at pictures of your Challenge a little while ago. I got inspired by this thread to search through the archives for pictures of UK Luxes.

I guess if the wall hook is strong enough, there wouldn't be a problem, and to be absolutely safe, you could always put something soft under the vacuum

yes give it a soft landing although theyre tough as old boots! my mom fell from top to bottom of the stairs with ours when i was a baby it never hurt the vac but my mom had a scar on her leg for the rest of her life!

thats a lovely z55 of your Grans, mate, theres a couple of tools there i dont recognise though from our set, the smaller brush and the small silver thing. I take it it origionally had the thick rubber crevice and that it split and was slung away quite early on like ours (and my nans off her z48) they werent the most successful lux tool ever issued were they?!! What year is that 1 Mike? my mom and dad bought ours in 1951 from the coop we had that exact model with that same floor noz, but didnt 55s go on to have a slightly different metal 1 for a while? cheers for posting that , Mike

hi guys my 55 came today the bag was corroded into its housig so i took it out and inserted a spare. the end cap was smashed and taped and would leek so i put on a spare i had and attached a spare hose. pluggged in guess what? RUNS LIKE A DREAM!!. It very quite and smooth and i would say a replacement higher wattage motor. Will post some pics

Si, grans was a 1951 model also, yes she aquired a number of different tools from within the family, they where always kept in an old biscuit box on the pantry shelf under the stairs...and yes the rubber crevice was the first to bite the dust..


Bob, most of the models came with the wooden boxes, also known as the "salesmans" box...they would have needed their iron carrying those from door to door...LOl

I love the motor housings from these old vacs, nothing like bakelite & metal!!! aahhh...
