VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

Hey Si - According to my booklet (I'll email you a copy later) Electrolux made the Norvac N50 (which was the same as the model 55) from 1958-1960 in light blue leatherette with black ends. They also made the Volta UL130 in 1959 in Beige with Maroon ends.

Here's another picture from the net of the 48. All the original parts but a replacement hose.

I'd love to get hold of one of them. They were sold in Canada briefly when the factory here went on strike in the 1950's but I've only ever seen two and couldnt grab them at the time.

hose

doug this looks like a modern bayonet hose end maybe it took that type origionally ... i remember it didnt take the ballbearing one like 55. our repair shop in the 70s supplied a kit which came in 2 halves to glue into the 55 hose port to adapt it to take a modern bayonet hose end . maybe there was the same available for the 48,,,, and the z60 wasnt that the later version in the same body but brighter coloured?

Hey Si:

The 48 (1951-56)was the first machine to take the bayonette fitting. The 60 (1957-60)was the successor of the 48 and was pretty much the same machine except for colour (see below). The ends and handle were red plastic and the body red/black/white multi fleck which resulted in a sort of tan colour.

Where the European machines changed over entirely to the bayonette fitting hoses by 1965 the Canadian machines never used them at all and kept the ball snap action fitting till the end of the model 89 run in 1973.

(again a picture from the net)
