Lindhaus/Stealth vs Wessel EBK360

Long time browser, first time poster.. Sorry for the long post in advance!

Just a bit of background.. I've always been into appliances, vacuums included. Over the years I've had Electrolux (Discovery), Miele's (Flamenco, Aluminum, Blue Moon) with 217, 226, and 236 heads, Electrolux (Aerus) central, a Lindhaus Healthcare upright, and a Vacuflo central (just air tools).

I'm moving shortly and I'm putting in a central vac into the new house. I've been obsessing over the powerhead. I'm torn at this point between a Lindhaus PB14 (which I've always wanted) and a Wessel EBK360 (I loved my Miele SEB 236).

The new house will have hardwood with very large area rugs on the lower level (10'x14' area rug in one room), and wall to wall carpet on the second level (low pile dense pattern in the hallway and master, berber in the spare bedrooms).

I'm obviously looking for head which cleans the best, but also one which pulls up the carpet nap - I'm a sucker for freshly vacuumed carpet with raised nap/vacuum lines. I owned the Miele SEB236 and the Lindhaus Healthcare at the same time about 10 years ago.. From what I can recall, they both did a good job raising the carpet pile. I just can't remember which did a better job - I seem to remember using them both off and on.

I probably would have gone for the Lindhaus, but I've been reading through the forums and it seems like not everyone is in love with the powerhead. I'm now leaning towards the EBK360, but I'm not 100%. What's with it's LED lights? In every picture I see they look blue - are they really? If so, I'd almost prefer no headlight, as anything other than white seems a little gimmicky (just my opinion).

Since I can't decide, I'm going to see what everyone else has to say. Let me know your thoughts! Sorry - I know the powerhead debate has been beaten (no pun intended!) to death.

On a side note, I had also considered a Beam Q set, but I havent seen one in person, so I'm not sure of it's quality and if it's on par with the Lindhaus/Wessel heads. I'm also fond of the design of Aerus heads, but the one I had for my Aerus central vac didnt impress me on carpet. I actually thought my Turbocat did a better job with the carpet pile.

Buy the Wessel-Werks nozzle or take a look at the TOL Simplicity/Riccar power nozzle. I have the Lindhaus/Stealth power nozzle and while it's built very well, it's performance leaves a lot to be desired! If the brush roller had two rows of brushes it would probably clean much better but overall it's cleaning ability is disappointing. My Electrolux power nozzles with the new style brush roll will certainly out clean the Lindhaus. I had the Miele SEB-236 with my Miele Red Velvet (similar to the EBK360) and it could clean circles around the Lindhaus. The Simplicity nozzle looks fantastic with its three rows of brushes. I've not used one myself but I've heard they clean exceptionally well. I've been wanting to upgrade from the Lindhaus nozzle to the Wessel-Werks nozzle for a while but I just haven't gotten around to ordering one.

I'd vote for the EBK360. I have one that I use with a Filter Queen, and its performance is outstanding - the agitation is on par with my Kirby and Simplicity uprights. It grooms really well too, much better than the stock Filter Queen power nozzle. As for the headlight, it's white, but since it's an LED, it's a very high color temperature which makes it look bluish in photos.

(Technical explanation: Most incandescent lights have a color temp around 2800-3500K. Sunlight is about 5700K - which makes sense, since the Sun's surface temp is 5700K or so. LED lights are usually 6500-10000K, so their light is about the same color as the light from a bright white star like Sirius, rather more blue than what we're used to as "white" light.)

One for lindhaus

I did some independent testing of a few nozzles which included the lindhaus PB-14, Wessel werks EBK 340, Eureka Vibragroomer 3, Sebo ET-C and an Electrolux PN-6. They were all hooked to the same central vac the lindhaus and Wessel were the top performers, but the lindhaus did just slightly better. I love the height adjustment on the lindhaus if you have multiple carpet types it's pretty wonderful. I have also been told Lindhaus makes the best power nozzle for flat commercial style carpeting.

Lindhaus 12"

I've had both, I I stalled the TWO row brush on the Lindsay's and it before way better than the single row. I suggest the 12 over the 14" because you get more concentrated air flow. I had my dealer order it directly from Lindhaus with the quick release pedal and the telescopic wand to fit the standard plastiflex hose. The infinite height adjustment is much nicer than 5 predetermined setting. I've also found that with the two row it really digs into the carpet and also has good agitation as well, compared to wessel werk.

Thanks for the replies so far! Reading down the posts I was leaning towards the Wessel, but then got swayed to the Lindhaus again. So what is the deal with the 2 row Lindhaus brush? Is it only available on the pb12? Is it standard?

The two brush was optional for me, my dealer didn't know about I has to inform him. It comes standard on their aria platinum canister which I've had the others have the single. I'm not sure if it's available on the14" though.

One more thing to consider as far as simplicity/riccar power heads the TOL with three brushes only gets 88% of the dirt out versus 92% with the two row brush on the next model down. Those numbers were given to me by a reputable source at the tacony factory FYI.

Lindhaus For Sure

If you're one for vacuum lines, the Lindhaus does a superb job fluffing up the nap. Plus it has a huge air channel, which allows you to take full advantage of the central vac's airflow. I'm not sure about the Wessel Werk, but the Lindhaus' wheels are rubber coated and smoothly transition from carpet to bare floors, and have a less of a chance of scuffing the floor. Added with the computer sensor and Italian quality, it's just overall a great powernozzle. 


 


It was mentioned earlier that an Electrolux PN can outclean a Lindhaus. I disagree. I've used both an Omni-flow PN6 with the new Aerus chevron brushroll and a single-row Lindhaus on medium pile carpeting, and it's no contest. On an Electrolux Silverado, the Lindhaus is better. The airflow is excellent and really helps lift out the dirt. There's a reason why MD has selected the Stealth as the top-of-the-line kit.

100%. I forgot to mention that it makes the carpet look amazing. I installed a MD at my moms house but she wanted the 12" because she didn't like the width of her lux renaissance , she always like the smaller size of the Olympia (she still has). She also has a long hair border collie and a long hair cat and this nozzle is tops. I use her house as a testing ground for nozzles.

Another bonus is changing the brush is relatively easy as well, just flip the red tabs and remove the bottom plate. Can also be used to brush in dry carpet powder when you put in the red door to close off suction.

One last thought... Anyone know if the new Aerus nozzle is an improvement over previous versions? I caught a glimpse of it (in black ) and I still love the way they look.. I just don't know if there has been any brush roll improvements. I don't want to go that route and be disappointed.

I have one on my aerus guardian platinum. It's the same brush roll, it just sounds different. I find the old nozzle to sound better personally. The new one has this slight whine to it that I know several others have complained about.

Thanks! I did hear it on a YouTube video - to me it sounds less like the previous Lux powerhead that I had years ago and actually more like the Miele 236.

How do you think it does as far as grooming your carpet is concerned?

Been my video haha. It's way louder than my Miele 236. As far as grooming it's no different than any other lux nozzle, if you've never owned or used one they are pretty good at grooming all types of carpets.

Cool.. Any idea of what year they changed the brush roll design? I had an Electrolux branded one for a central vacuum about 10 years ago. It did an ok job lifting the pile, but I actually think my Turbocat was more aggressive.

It was in like 2000-2001 I don't quite remember. Maybe I yours was worn a little mine do better than my turbocat.
