Well, I've moved to Palm Springs and now do not have a basement. So much of my collection will go. The vacuums are in a storage unit and will be listed as I sort through them. This item is a like brand new Kirby 519 with attachments. This was found on Ebay brand new in the box. It has been out for display only. All original including cord and bag with original box.

Do not do business with this man! He bought this machine (within 5 minutes of original posting on Ebay.) He claimed shipping damage so I refunded his money and now he will not return the machine to me. Stay away from this guy!

Fred,

That's too bad about Bill Edstrom. Up until now he seemed very nice, sharing us bits and pieces of vintage Kirby information.

If worse comes to worst on his end, I hope you file a police report toward him to give you your damaged machine back. All the best!

Fred..........

This has happened to me in the past. It is outrageous that Bill Edstrom, who has been to conventions and even did a Kirby presentation, (as he is professionally involved with Kirby), scammed you this way.

Just when you think you can trust people on this site you find out that you must, "trust but verify".

It makes one wonder if they want to do business with people on this site based on all the unsavory selling and buying experiences posted here including my own.

He Asked For a Refund

I gave him a full refund and he will not return the machine to me. I asked for the shipping charges to pay for the return as well. As Fred S. said to me, if you take something back to Best Buy for a refund, you get the refund but you don't get to keep the item you returned. In effect, he got a beautful machine for free. The cord on that machine has sold for $90 on EBay and he got the whole complete machine for $150 which I refunded so he got it all for free. That's the truth.

WOW

I'm shocked to read this.  I have had my own run ins on eBay with sellers, but can't imagine something like this with a buyer!

I just have to ask... why did you issue a full refund without receiving your item back first?  eBay's return policy states that the buyer must ship back the item; after the seller inspects the item, they then issue a full refund.  Why did you skip these steps?   They were your protection.

I would definitely open a case with eBay and PayPal, and yes, I would consider contacting the local police in the jurisdiction to which you mailed the Kirby.  Interstate internet fraud... it's a thing!  If this guy owns his own Kirby shop, you can rest assured he has a way to get rid of this unit for a GORGEOUS profit!

This is just so wrong.  Too bad people forget Karma.  She's a bitch when we are!
