CheeseWonton, where in the patent application did it say that?
They were heavy too. I remember trying one at a Miele dealer and a couple of minutes playing had me sweating. The twist feature put a lot of weight on the handle. Nein danke.Manufacturers often forget misuse/abuse. The Miele S7/U1 range is an excellent example of that.
The Miele Salsa is pretty tough. I've got one I got as a box of dismantled parts the seller was selling, he had taken all the screws and the soleplate, and was selling the rest of it as a lot. No idea why. The vacuum had also been in a flood and the motor is covered in surface rust. I put it all back together and got all the parts back in place after it took me 5 years to get the correct OEM screws which I had to import from the UK, and it just started up and ran. The motor needs a good burnishing with a wire brush and get all the rust crust off, but otherwise it's a fully working vacuum.Manufacturers often forget misuse/abuse. The Miele S7/U1 range is an excellent example of that.
Both of my Mieles leak dust where the spout on the inside of the lid pokes through the bag using genuine Miele bags. The spring loaded flap in the bag opening is constantly pushing the mounting card down and off the spout no matter how carefully you mount the bag. I can close the lid and you can see that stupid spring loaded flap against the inside of the hose opening. There is always a fine layer of dust on the inside of the lid. OEM bags correctly mounted in a vacuum I fuss over to make sure everything is perfect. Both still leak. A bag with no flap in the opening would be a better choice along with a foam seal or maybe a springy rubber seal like Electroluxes have around the spout on the inside of the lid.Interesting! Most of the Miele problems I see come from wrongly installed bags. I have just got a s7210, and it has 3 original 2011 bags. The seal is better and doesn't leak.
What bag is that? Both of mine use the FJM bag.I find the seal on the old, as in 3-4 generations older, bags better.
The FJM bag has a pretty stout rubber seal, but the spring loaded flap pushing against the spout creates a leak. I think the cure it to get rid of the spring loaded flap.I am talking about the S7 type of bags, the type U. It has a proper rubber seal.
I bought this model used in 1974 it gave many years of service it was very quite and had adequate power as I remember unfortunately it was dropped down a flight of stairs and was damaged.
I would like to find a Lewyt with the first gen hard wired power nozzle. I just got a 1957 model like I grew up with that needs a good cleaning, wands, a hose, floor nozzle and dusting brush. I grew up with one but about the only things I remember are winding the cord around the top and the red felt on the inside of the lid. No memory of how they work and no idea what I am going to do for a bag. Maybe a bag for a Numatic vacuum ?I bought this model used in 1974 it gave many years of service it was very quite and had adequate power as I remember unfortunately it was dropped down a flight of stairs and was damaged.
Yuck. I adapt synthetic HEPA dust bags to anything I use to clean with if it wasn't originally supplied with that kind of bag. I modify the mounting cards on Hoover Style S, Electrolux OX and Kenmore Type O bags to fit a variety of vintage vacuums as well as use Numatic bags in my old Kenmores. I'll figure something out.Maybe you could get a holland electro toppy bag, as they were re-useable.
No. I want no part of those shake out bags. I just have to find a modern bag that fits whatever mount the Lewyt uses. If it is just spout then a Numatic bag has a nice tight rubber seal. I use them in old Kenmores for that reason.I reckon that you could put a Henry bag inside the re-useable bag.
I will have to check but I think I still have a pile of extra lewyt bags in the garage (I keep buying them when I find them)No. I want no part of those shake out bags. i agree go with proper sunthetic bags if yo ucan more air flow more suction less wear on motor tooNo. I want no part of those shake out bags. You might be able to find a hepa bag that you could enlarge the hole on to fiti agree go with proper sunthetic bags if yo ucan more air flow more
Have you seen the HEPA bags for Numatic vacuums? Big hole with a rubber seal. You might be able to find a hepa bag that you could enlarge the hole on to fit
Nope no one sells Numatic around here.Have you seen the HEPA bags for Numatic vacuums? Big hole with a rubber seal.
Cheesewonton, the Hoover Type S or Hoover Type Y bags should fit and work in the Lewyt Big Wheel canisters.
Could you have put caulking or cylicone underneath to keep it glued on i nthe bag chamber of the big wheelYes, I am well aware of that. Unfortunately, finding a bag with a hole as large as the original Lewyt bag is challenging! Both of those bags will fit the bag fill tube though without a problem. The Hoover S is much smaller, but then again, the Hoover Y bag solves that problem and fills the chamber completely.
I did have one for a couple years, and was going to rebuild it. The problem with the Big Wheel models is, try to find one that the rubber seal on top that the bag door sits on that isn't torn and rotted! That's why I pitched mine.
A Kirby HEPA Bag may also fit and work btw, but not 100% certain on that.
