"Autoreverse" question

My Miele Red-Velvet vacuum has the "autoreverse" feature on the cordreel. For the life of me, I don't know what to make of it. The cordreel is so strong that if I enable the autoreverse feature it essentially tethers the vacuum to the power cord. Subsequently, retracting the vacuum until the hose pulls tight in your grip and/or pulling the plug out of the outlet. Hence, I don't bother with it.

Is this a meaningful feature or something that sounds great in theory and is less than useful in practice? Or am I doing something wrong. Also, why would you want the cordreel to constantly be in a tug-O-war?

Other than that it is very enjoyable to use and it dresses up the closet. I call it my year round Christmas tree ornament. By the way, I picked up some Lemon scent Electrolux Clean Sweep air freshening granules. The scent is very pleasant........I hope the Miele doesn't mind!

Auto-Reverse

I don't use the auto-reverse, which all of my Miele canisters have had, for that reason.

Do not have the Auto-Reverse feature anymore. That was the most useless feature Miele ever had.

You know how much I adore Air-Way but it is unfortunate that they are essentially dying a slow death. There just doesn't seem to be any interest in supporting dealers or designing anything new. However, I still think they make one of, if not the finest, canisters available.

I recently became the Bosch dealer for Charlotte and will begin "pushing" that line as well to stay competitive. I am very impressed with the Bosch vacuums and they seem to me, to be twin sisters to the Miele's but at half the price. You get the "sainted" German technology, lots of features and a large selection in a variety of price ranges.

Chuck Chatham chose Bosch over Miele and it is now his bigger seller. He still carries Air-Way too. He has modified the Air-Way, "BV", which is the New Century/Sani-Clean as a straight suction model by adding the small Bosch power nozzle which IS made by Wessel-Worek.

I sold a customer a Bosch Formula, (the least expensive model with a power nozzle), last week and she wrote me a thank you note! Now that is the kind of customer I like! She also has an Electrolux Epic that is in Charlie's Vac Shop for repairs and a face lift.

BTW, the Bosch Formula has a variable speed motor, the wheels/canisters like a Miele, ergonically designed handle with on/off switch for the p/n, lightweight/crushproof hose, 26' auto retractable cord, turbo tool, tools onboard, small p/n that goes anywhere, is VERY quiet and weighs just 12 lbs. A lot of bang for the buck.

"Pick Pocket Pearl"

For those who think Helen is lifting goodies from Duane's store..........look again, (Hello Pete!), as you will see that Helen is cleaning a HUGE wad of some kind of hair from the brushroll of the demo machine.

Duane what are you doing to those poor demo Miele's? Little Fred had to help me by removing the bottom plate and we had to take it to the back and cut the hair off!

Helen put something in Tania's purse? Oh forevermore! That would be wrong! Shockingly wrong!

When I checked out the security camera in slow motion,what has happend was Helen got her hand caught in the power head roller. Then with Tania's fast reacation she turn on the vacuum and freed Helen's hand. Sorry for the mistake.

The Meile dealer heere was tempting me with the "Antarius"not sure of the spelling-and the "Capricorn"both very cool machines-the first one has a radio remote control in the hose handle-you can play tricks on folks with this-The Meile dealer does just that-he switches on the machine from across the room with the start button on the hose handle.Also a powerful little vacuum.Don't let its small size fool you.More power than some full size other brand machines.It would be an interesting addition to the collection.Now how to talk him down and make a deal?

"New Miele's are here"

My new shipment of new Miele's are here. Not much work is getting done so far today. Having to much fun settig up and
seeing all the new features and all the new models such as
the Capicorn,Aquarius,callisto,and Antarius. I think that
the Miele are starting to be the more excitng canister that
I have at my store. I guess I have to get back to work or maybe not.

You'll love the new series. Be sure and try out the new floor tool and show it to customers. They love the way it swivels. If you want to do a REALLY impressive demonstration, put a bunch of rice on the floor and have the customer clean it up with that new tool. Instead of pushing it around like most floor tools, it will suck it up through the large castle cut openings.

One thing that is different, and that I had to get used to, was the change in the hose. It does not swivel at the machine end. Instead, there is a second swivel at the attachment end that moves along with you depending on what side of the machine you are on. The disadvantage of the hose not swiveling at the machine end is counteracted by two things 1) the machine is more responsive to the user pulling on the hose. In fact, it's so responsive that the hose has no chance of bending, as the machine always moves before the hose can bend, if that makes sense 2) The dirt has a "straight shot" into the bag, reducing the chance for clogs.


Miele is the best selling vacuum at my store hands down. Several customers recognize the name from Williams Sonoma or online, and EVERY SINGLE PERSON I have sold one to has told me that they LOVE their machine. In about 3-5 years, I plan on branching out into their marvelous appliances. I had a lady in yesterday who told me that she was about to buy the double oven when she built her house, but because no one serviced them locally, she understandably went with something else.

Bosch is an excellent machine as well. I do like the fact that the cord is longer than the Miele. However they don't give as much protection from internet low-ballers as Miele does. In fact, at one time Costco was selling a model to customers for UNDER our cost. For those reasons, I decided not to add them to my line up.
