Wouldn't it be nice if they still made cars the way they used to...with chrome and steel. But they sacrifice the weight of the car and call it a more efficient engine. They say their more complex engineering has created fuel economy for the consumer - what a fantastic lie!
Plastic and Facebook-touchscreen thingys were the radio went is all but standard now! Wouldn't it be grand to wake up tomorrow and see Plymouth Furys and DeSotos cruising the roads? As the song goes, <span style="text-decoration: underline;">'if this is a dream, let be keep on dreaming'</span>!!! I'd be pinching myself if they started making cars with tail-fins! Who cares about the weight? I'm betting 95% of people under 30 have never driven a land-barge! It just makes it more fun to get up to speed on the highway! Land-Sailing is a endangered sport! Cars (and if you've seen the new Samsung/Dysons, vacuums too) get uglier the further we progress into the 21st century. This is especially true with Buick. 'That's not a Buick' is absolutely right! All that bloated plastic isn't going to do the same as a crap-ton of American steel in an accident! I haven't seen chrome on a car since the 1970s, what a shame! Cars stopped Looking good in it, could you imagine a chrome-out Prius? No, of course not! You need tail-fins and a push-button transmission to go along with that!
That Prius wouldn't be able to move for the weight..LOL...just give one cough & say why bother...being from Boca we (don't want to offend anyone) called them jew canoe or ghetto sled
Putting it all aside, every now & then a big car goes by..in my neighborhood down the skreet someone gas a Buick 2 door something or another..it's big, someone else has a thunderbird with the round windows, an mg is round the corner... Oh and the belair too.. Everyone is nice that has them except for the Buick guy..he's got something up his a$$ putting it politely
Florida is a hot-spot for old cars! There's two old Ford pickups, 2 Chevy novas, I think what is a thunderbird, and a ton of VW bugs in my area! Not to mention DeSoto-Land one street over from me!
Just realized, you're in Florida too! Hi neighbor!
They're my favourite too! From a time when you could come home and have dinner at the table, not the tv. From a time when you shoped at J.C Penney and not eBay, from a time when your car weighed as much as your house,I could go on!!
I'm still debating carrying around a counter for every time I see a prius,I usually see around 7 while out thrifting! It's always fun to turn your head and see a vintage beauty going down the road,I couldn't leave the window when a vintage Camaro ran out of gas across the street from me!
I have a feeling we'll be up all night at this rate, Mark! We're posting posts faster then you can change a Kirby belt!
I've got a 1967 VW Beetle, and it's going to be my first car. When we first got it, it only had primer on the exterior, and was kind of plain-looking. After a new paint job and a chrome polishing, she looks as good as ever. Not to mention that a VW air-cooled engine will run FOREVER if it's maintained properly. It's a sexy car!
I had to learn to drive on one of those..LOL I got stuck trying to go up a steep bridge, had to get everyone behind me to move so I could roll the car back down to get a running start up & over....oh what fond memories!!!
Recently, my aunt called me and said her friend had given her a Kirby that she didn’t want. What she described to me over the phone sounded like her friend had given her a Classic III. This weekend I went over to her house to troubleshoot her computer and shampoo her dining room carpet. After I was finished helping her she said “don’t forget the vacuum cleaner”. She made it clear that she didn’t want the Kirby because it was too heavy for her to use. The Kirby was in her hall closet and she said that my five year cousin James had got to it first. I was surprised to find a 561 sitting in her closet. My cousin who may become a future vacuum collector had the attachment boxes open and the attachments lying on the floor. I’m relieved the Kirby turned out to be a 561 and not a Classic III as I already have two of those. It's funny that whoever converted it to an F&G bag system put a bag topper on it.
I have one in two categories. Out of the ones I own, it would be my current oldest Kirby, the 508. It’s so stunning with its original bag and parts. Out of every Kirby in general, it would be the Model C.
