The Hoover Elites and Hoover Turbopowers are very, VERY alike, they were both lightweight, use practiaclly the same cardboard plate on the bag but the bag is slightly longer on an Elite, they sound quite similar, especially the 90's Turbopowers, they have similar features, Hoover Elites and Hoover Turbopowers that had on-board tools used a similar hose and wand storage set up, though the cleaning tools were all in one place on the back of all Turbopower Total Systems, where as they are put all over the place on an Elite depending on the model and appart from all that, they probably both do the same excellent job.
The Hoover Turbopowers came a good few years before the Elite (the Elite was launched in 1988 in the US, I believe, please correct me if I am wrong and the Turbopowers were launched in 1983 in the UK) Hoover were still (I believe at that time) the same company so they will probably of shared Ideas, I imagine, which explains why US Hoover brought out a similar machine but then again I could be talking complete rubbish and it could of been entirely their design, I am not certain on that.
The Elite and Turbopower don't look alike at all but they have the same basic design, the Turbopowers were more popular here, probably because they offered more features as we only got one Turbolite model I am not sure if the Turbolite was more expensive than a Turbopower Junior or not?
The Turbolite was named in the US an Elite 200 we did however get a Hoover legacy style machine that was in red and was called the Hoover Commercial, again, don't know how successful they were?
