I changed my profile picture! 

 


Now, there's good reason behind this. partly as a joke, and partly to defend the might BAGGED vacuum cleaners.


 


It all started when somebody made their profile picture into this.....

Nar just so you know & the others I love the UK & had a great time visiting there. I miss the Renault hatchback that I had whilst I was there, didn't like the halogen hob but loved the auger!! Boy do I miss all that oh & the lady that told her mouthy child to shut your gob! My tea shot out my mouth like a sprinkler!! I had so much fun I didn't want to leave & my hosts there said when they go back I can tag along!!

They didn't have the schematic, but they certainly had a lot of other stuff. So, I went on ahead and replaced the cap and its transistors; it seems to be preforming well, now. Thanks again for the info!

God, I wanted a Renault R5! My bro had a Dauphine that needed to have an empty beer can placed in top of the carb to start when it was cold. Sadly the best I could do was a YUGO and a Citroen 2CV. I have lead a deprived life.

I was in a Renault Scenic it was a neat car & the Citroen are cool too. I wish they would have those here cause I really liked them.

All I can tell you is about Kress's experience she bought the turbo model & before we even got it off the lot, the drivers door fell off! We didn't wait to watch the car fall apart in front of us so we left & bought a VW Cabriolet. The thought of having to ride on,y the motor of that Yugo was discouraging.

Super, being something of an impulsive (read; stupid) sort who believes in keeping the economy moving I have trusted my auto extravagents to a brilliant mechanic that took care of my Citroen. When I got bored of the Citroen and couldn't find an R5 or Simca or Fiat Milifiori I wanted I was warned repeatedly, loudly and often by said mechanic do not for any reason buy a YUGO. I bought a YUGO with factory air! I bought it sight unseen and had it shipped from FL to GA. I sold it to some guy in FL and had it shipped down to him. So between purchase, shipping up and shipping down and replacing every friggin thing in the car it worked out to about the cost of 4 of the little bastards new. The electrical system had to be lucas. I was driving home one day wondering what the oily stuff getting thrown up on the rear screen was. How would anyone have guessed that the front end got so out of alignment that tires were litterly being shredded. I was down to steel on two brand new front tires in less than 60 miles. Oh yeah, there are places to align Yugos but the needed bushings not so much. Operational signal lights seemed unimportant to the car. Ah, the AC...bless it's heart. To it's credit it was a ball to drive, the interior was in excellant shape and original.

Whoops sorry I just caught your message - apologies for the delay!.

There are still American families here in the little town I live in due to our U.S Naval Base that used to be stationed here and where the USS Simon Lake lived for a year. (You can't imagine how I felt when I saw the film "Battleships," and I saw the ship I had been on!)

As such there were a few "American" Renaults - a Renault 5 seemed to be very popular as did the Renault 9 "sedan," or went under the AMC "Alliance" name and the Renault 11/AMC Encore. Looked far cooler than our UK/European versions. The Scenic is a good car for families though a few of my American friends here in Scotland have a few Scenic cars because they're so practical - like a mini MPV - though they also make large ones too.

I was in a place called Holland Park in 2005 visiting for a 3 week holiday & absolutely loved the UK!! my neighbours have a place there (too much for me) I could have done with a small flat or even a semi but they insisted I stay there with them, I couldn't say no but aside from that I had soooo much fun learning as much as I could. Driving was an experience I didn't hit anything but if I was there longer I'd pick up what all the signs & lines mean.

Yes as I would jump when a bus would just barely squeeze by asking did we get hit?? I went to her daughters flat I understand about size as I could do quite nice with one but I don't know how others would do. It was quite cozy how she did it up & I should find my passport so I have it at the ready for when they go back.
