Those cookies look so good-and bet right out of the oven-just cooked so they are nice and hot-love them that way-when I make cookies-eat a lot of them just right after they have been cooked.

My KA is 18 years old

It is a Diamond Anniversary model with coated attachments. Wire Wisk is stainless. I have ran them through the dishwasher many thousands of times with no problems. This is actually good, because my moto is "if it don't go in the dishwasher it goes in the compactor."

I'll get a better picture!

I'll have to focus on a picture strictly of the mixer. However I took this photo last week while using it to make a cake for a friends Birthday. It's an old Kitchen Aid from my mom. Some day I'd like to get either the navy blue or forest colored green models!! I could have a Christmas themed kitchen between a green mixer and the red microwave. That's funny a Christmas kitchen, and I'm supposed to celebrate Hanukkah instead!!

Great thread, Patrick! I'll have to check out that KA blog when I have some more time. I know the Hobart mixers go way back!

Thanks for that advice, Louis... Our KA that's only about 4 years old has seeped oil from behind the band, and I've wondered why. I've taken it apart once to get rid of the excess oil, and noticed a few weeks ago that it's doing it again. It's good to know about running it periodically to keep that from happening. Having so many mixers, it's hard to give them all the love they need! I did use the KA this past Saturday to make cookies, but didn't take a picture, I'll have to do that this weekend. We have a shredder attachment, and it all goes in the DW when I'm done using it; we haven't had a problem with it so far. I mostly use that to shred cheese when I make home made Maccaroni & Cheese. We also have one of the bowl-wiping spatula beaters; Terry gave it to us shortly after we got the mixer. I absolutely love it. I hardly ever have to stop the mixer to scrape the sides of the bowl -- I recommend them if you don't have one!

K/A

I have a purple Artisan. Love it. But, I still use my Sunbeam more. I like the 2 different bowls, and I grew up with a Sunbeam. The one I use the most is 40 years old and going strong. Too bad they don't make them like that anymore. I sound like my parents!

the mixer in reply 28..

Is a K-4, for 4 quart bowl, the 3-c is virtually the same with a more v shaped 3 qt bowl, the one shown is a later one, because the handle is painted, and solid, the early 4-c had a buffed aluminum handle that was open to allow you to lift the head with, why they closed up the hole I never did figure out., this one shown is 1970s.

My mom's

I bought this for my mom when probably right around 2000. It gets used fairly often and is still working perfectly. I'm pretty sure the color was called Onyx Black.
