Kitchenaid Mixers

Great thread, Patrick! I'll have to check out that KA blog when I have some more time. I know the Hobart mixers go way back!

Thanks for that advice, Louis... Our KA that's only about 4 years old has seeped oil from behind the band, and I've wondered why. I've taken it apart once to get rid of the excess oil, and noticed a few weeks ago that it's doing it again. It's good to know about running it periodically to keep that from happening. Having so many mixers, it's hard to give them all the love they need! I did use the KA this past Saturday to make cookies, but didn't take a picture, I'll have to do that this weekend. We have a shredder attachment, and it all goes in the DW when I'm done using it; we haven't had a problem with it so far. I mostly use that to shred cheese when I make home made Maccaroni & Cheese. We also have one of the bowl-wiping spatula beaters; Terry gave it to us shortly after we got the mixer. I absolutely love it. I hardly ever have to stop the mixer to scrape the sides of the bowl -- I recommend them if you don't have one!

K/A

I have a purple Artisan. Love it. But, I still use my Sunbeam more. I like the 2 different bowls, and I grew up with a Sunbeam. The one I use the most is 40 years old and going strong. Too bad they don't make them like that anymore. I sound like my parents!

the mixer in reply 28..

Is a K-4, for 4 quart bowl, the 3-c is virtually the same with a more v shaped 3 qt bowl, the one shown is a later one, because the handle is painted, and solid, the early 4-c had a buffed aluminum handle that was open to allow you to lift the head with, why they closed up the hole I never did figure out., this one shown is 1970s.

I have a red Kitchenaid Ultra-Power Tilt-Head Stand-Mixer Model KSM95ER with whisk, beater & dough hook attachments and optional splash guard.

Santa Claus brought it to me for Christmas 2011. I had wanted one for a long time and it was a big surprise!

My Mixer Madness!!!

Hi, here's pictures of my mixer obsession!!! All the hand mixers in the cupboard I've rebuilt and use! The coral colored Sunbeam Mixmaster model 9 all taken apart, I sandblasted at work, painted and am restoring! That mixer was so gross when I bought it, you couldn't even tell what it was! The newer Sunbeam model 2350 on my Cosco stool I garbage picked a few weeks back! The thing works great too! I just had to buy it some beaters! I will be making a cake with it this weekend! A few of my mixers were given to me by friends too! Never can have too many mixers! :) -Michelle

I have the silicone blade beater on my pro 6, not much of a fan, it throws stuff up and out the top it seems to me?? Seldom do I drag that part out

Wow......

you guys and gals are really into your mixers. I have the one on the right in Post# 267317, I believe. Bought it at Macy's to match the finish on the modern toaster I already had from Macy's. I thought it was called Industrial something or other....or maybe I want it to be called that...lol.

Got the better motor, but it's probably not their very best. I don't need anything better, really. I grew up watching a 'big white' model work with all its accessories. I know nothing about them other than I never saw one fail in any kind of spectacular way...unlike the hand held mixers often do.

I recently got out my grandmother's Proctor Silex juicer from the 50's and squeezed up some key lime juice and some orange juice. Haven't used it in over 35 yrs. I took the motor apart when I was a boy, but decided I could do nothing for it to improve it...lol.

In this day & age of modern lubricants and tailor made synthetic greases...if Kitchenaid is using a grease that separates out from lack of routine use, shame on them.
