It is? Looks the same to me. The U.S. portion of it anyway. I have been looking forward to seeing the new Sentria on the website. They're still touting the Ultimate G Diamond Edition.

Finally! I guess they sold enough Ultimate G Diamond Editions to warrant advertising the Sentria.

My main gripe, though, is when they took down the detailed company history pages close to 8 years ago, complete with a chart containing the majority of the models Kirby produced (I don't think it included the R series though). Greg N. has one in his basement that will definitely be on display this year for the meeting, and I'm still on the lookout for one! I think I remember him saying that it came from a vac shop, but I'm not positive.

hey there

I remember 8 years ago when they had pictures of all the models... I printed it (I was 15 then!) and then something happened to it... I went back for more and they were gone... how sad!

I got 2 timeline posters from Kirby - One was called "Building of a Legend," with the Heritage II Legend being the newest machine, the other called "Generation after Generation" which I got at the very end of 1993 when the G4 was just released. I would kill for an "R" series machine. There was one for sale on eBay (a model 4R), not too long ago, from 1941 complete with box and papers, and it sold for over $2000.00! Why do I not see the new Sentria uploaded on the Kirby website?

Thats what i've noticed the kirby site is like, full of praise for the wonderful new machine but never a full pic of the damn thing ;p

No machine ...

...just a hint was typical of Kirby advertising. Their ads in magazines during the 1950s NEVER showed the cleaner!

In fact I know of only one Kirby ad that showed the cleaner; and that was one of the very first ads that Kirby did. It actually had Jim Kirby holding the motor unit with the crystalator on it. That's all. It did not ever show the vacuum fully assembled as an upright vacuum.

Most of the Kirby ads had a hint of the vacuum that I guess was supposed to "tease," a potential buyer into calling up for a demonstration.

Its probably somewhat effective. If people have heard of a Kirby and go on the website, perhaps it peaks their interest even more. But...it's very frustrating for us collectors who would, for sure, like to see the whole machine and all its attachments and accessories.

hi Guys i dint like the web site no pictures . How can anyone see the unit. I as i like to say took the sentri for a ride today at me kirby dealer nice vacuum,.have a good day God bless Doug.

Thats something I noticed about the upgraded website "showing" the Sentria-come to think of it the old website never showed you the Diamond G either.and the ommission of early models and history. Not good.A "slimmed down" website. It has a section in it where they are glad to get your name so they can demo the Sentria for you-than you get to see what it looks like! Also like the picture of the white salesman selling the machine to black clients-around here its black salespersons selling to white clients-nothing wrong with that-but an observation-the black Kirby sales reps I have known have been pretty professional.Kirby does train them well.Wish Kirby would make the salesperson ditch the suit and tie-Its very hard to give an active demo in those clothes-and you can get them dirty!TriStar and Filter Queen were looser in their salespersons dress-suggesting casual clothes instead-their line of thinking was that the former clothing could "frighten" clients. Its found the casual dress is more relaxing to prospects-and was more likely to close a sale. And how many folks wear suits and ties in their homes?

That is interesting about the suit and tie thing, when I bought my G5 the two guys sure weren't in suits and ties, this was back in Illinois.

Overall.............disappointing. You would think with the money Kirby makes they would have a really good, interactive web site.

Maybe we should refer Robert to them? Even OUR web site is more interactive than theirs!

I didn't see a picture of the vacuum anywhere on that website. Did you notice they never refer to it as a vacuum and the word is seldom used.

But isn't that because..

as Kirby would say. "It’s not just a vacuum, it is a complete home care system." Kirby's are not marketed simply as vacuum cleaners. And the truth is, they do more than vacuum. There are, of course, arguements on both sides of whether these other "functions," really do the job they say they do. But I think the floor buffer is great as well as the shampoo system; although I have to agree with Alex Tabor that if the carpet is absolutely filthy, an industrial extraction process is probably needed. In any case, it is the multi-tasking that's the key to a Kirby.

You guys may remember that with the Model G - 4 and 5 they did have all the functions on the Web Site; but then they removed all those pictures and displays. Perhaps their marketing research showed that it was best to go back to their original approach to advertising and marketing: keep 'em guessing till the final punch line!

Still, like all of you..I would like to be able to see the whole ensamble in every detail. One thing I would love to see is the new "Handi-Butler," for the Sentria. I'm told it is now turbine driven instead of belt driven. But I haven't seen any of these "new toys," yet. Not even on eBay when a Sentira is listed...no one seems to have the Handi Butler.

Does anyone out there have one that they'd like to post a picture of? I'd love to see it.
