Kirby Tradition suction relief vent

I've noticed that some Traditions have the vent on the rug nozzle and some don't. Anyone know why? Is it anything to do with shake out bag vs disposable bags models?

No, the earlier Traditions (1979-mid 1980) had the SRV, whereas the mid 1980-1981 machines didn't.


 


My Tradition (F531996, approx. November 1979) has the vent.
