Except for Beyonce, she's got a killer voice

Well, I like Taylor Swift better if ai had to choose between them for modern music

I dont know anyone

There's a few around us. A friend of my partners have 2 - a Heritage and a Legend 2 - both family hand-me-downs.

There were a fair few whilst I as growing up too. We had a Legend 2 and I had 3 sets of aunts and uncles with them, one with a Tradition, one with a Classic Omega and one with a G4.

Ah cool.
When I was a kid, approx 12 years ago let's say. There was like 25% of a Dyson owners. The most popular vacuum back in the day was the bright orange Vax 6131. Now I have not seen one since my neighbour replaced theirs with a. Henry. Then a few days later a DC33.

God, when I was that age, Dyson barely existed. It was all Hoover Juniors, Turbopower 1 & 2's, Electrolux 500's, Twin Turbos, Contours & a few Gliders, Hitachi Powerhouse uprights and Panasonic 40 & 50 series. There were a fair few Vax 121's and 2000's knocking about too.

Cool. What is your area like now? Most houses here have Dysons. Like 60% are Dyson, then there is approx 20% Henry's and the rest are cheapo vacs. People here love Dyson

I was born in 1998. From 1997- 2000 ish, we had a Dyson DC01. Was used loads is our carpeted house, especially be me. I broke it. Before the DC01 we had a Vax 121, dunno what before then.

Showing your age now Chris :)

I'm younger than you, thank you, you cheeky old woman! :P

Our street consisted of pretty much all uprights, bar 2 that I knew of. These were all either Hoover, Panasonic, Hitachi or Electrolux. Dyson's didn't really start cropping up until about 1997/98.

I don't live in the same town I grew up in anymore, but there are indeed a fair few Dysons on our street. Varied models too from 04's right up to 41's, with an 08 and 33 thrown in for good measure. There's at least 2 Henry's and a Hetty too.

Our immediate neighbours both have Vax's.

Neither of my parents have ever owned Dysons. Even when I was very young and I saw my aunt's DA001 for the first time and was begging my folks to get one, they never did. We had a Hoover Turbopower U2332, then a Panasonic MC-E44, then the Kirby Legend 2. We kept the Panasonic upstairs whilst we had the Kirby - Mum prefered it and it got far more use than the Kirby ever did. We had that in daily use pretty much from 1992 - 2007ish. I still own that cleaner, actually.

Our street is so long it takes like 3/4 mins to walk on one end of the road to the other! About 140 houses I think. Terraced houses too.
My neighbour has a Dc33
Their neighbour has a blue dc19 allergy
Their neighbour is my uncle. He has/had a dc04 absolute and he currently has a 2013 3d face Henry with park feature and Autosave
Hie neighbour is also my other uncle, he has a black swivel sweeper, white dc14 all floors and a white DC15 Allergy
Then that's the block, my other neighbour has a Hilo Henry
His neighbour has the same, but with push switch
Their neighbour, un known, but a few doors away is my mums friend. She has a dc25 all floors
Then their neighbour has a DC20 Animal stowaway
Then their neighbour has a DC19 T2
Then their neighbour has a Henry
Then their neighbour has a DC40
That's the block done.

Across the road, there's
Our relative, she has a dc07 origin and two DC01's. A Vax handheld, purple bagged cylinder, bissell carpet sweeper, Vax rapide oldie tub vac and another carpet sweeper
An old lady who had a DC04, she had to move out to live with her family on the next road. Lets call that road 2. She was ill so needed care. Their family also had a dc04 silver lime.
Her neighbour two doors away has a Hetty. Used to have a DC02. At the end of the road, our family friend, has a DC03 Absolute which they absolute HATE. They said it breaks all the time
Their neighbour has a DC33 Animal
Their neighbour is my dads mate, he has an Eco Henry
Their neighbour has an Eco Henry too and is also my dads mate. He has a few Henry's cos he owns a car business
Then I dunno, but random houses are;
Bissell powerforce
Vax little tub thing
Blue hoover purepower
Dyson wheeled upright. The I were chucking away the box for their new motor
Vax orange tub vac 6131 I think
Morphy Richards cylinder
Push switch Henry

My side of the road;
My mums friend has a DC14 with clutch. Dunno what colour, but saw her using the wand from it. The later one with the red wand end and it didn't have the non clutched vibrating sound.
Their neighbour two doors away has a DC27
Then many doors later, a DC33
Then their neighbour has a DC07 standard
Then further down the road is SURPRISINGLY AN ELECTROLUX CONTOUR

Ok, the road two now. My Aunty used to live there, so I know what the neighbours have etc etc etc
Neighbour has a Vax bagless cylinder. Her other neighbour is my dads mate and had had a dc04 silver limes cleaner head broke from an accident so it went into the garden. I didn't want it but they have a Vax upright mach range thing. I heard the brushbar grooming pretty well from next door even with the door shut

Their neighbour two doors away is my mums friend. She has a DC27
Their neighbour a few doors away has a DC14 Animal
Then other side... DC05 purple and green absolute cleaning the car
Their neighbour has some bagless Electrolux upright
Their neighbour has a DC04 lime. Its the one where the old lady fell ill and she had a DC04. It's still in her old house actually, but the new owners dragged out a DC33 and put it in their car?!
Across the road of road two;
Dc04 brush control in yellow
Black Vax 6151
Erm.. OMG. I JUST FORGOT 😭 but my bought a new house in 2012. She has a Henry now to replace her old Vax cylinder which lasted 4 years.

On road 3, the one like right behind me there's my uncle. He has a DC19 . He alsok owns the house next door and that has a DC19 too.
His neighbour has a Vax bagless upright.
Their neighbour has a DC04 in yellow. Actually my uncle bought that house last year and they have a DC25
Their neighbour has a DC03 Standard
Then right behind my house, my Dads mate has a Marion Vax little tub thing. Like a mini 6131
His neighbour has a Vax swift, a green DC04 and a Henry. Their neighbour two doors away has a blue DC07
Then my mums house over here. She has a Vax mach upright. Sounds like a a Dyson
Their neighbour has a blue DC04i and a Vax upright bagless Mach range too

I could go on and on forever, LOL but there's so many vacuums in so many roads.

Chris how's your neighbours dc14?

I don't know, I don't live there anymore. I moved last April.

Ok, this is going back like 20 years now, so bear with me. At one point I knew what vacuum was in every house. Our street when I was growing up looked something like this:

Hoover Turbopower Junior U1222
Panasonic MC-E44 (this was us!)
Hoover Junior 1346 (brown)
Hoover Turbopower U2602
Hitachi Powerhouse CV460D
Hoover Turbopower Boost U2716
Panasonic MC-E53
Electrolux z2030
Hoover Turbopower Junior U1220
Hitachi CV760D
Electrolux z1070 Turbo2

Then the house around the cul-de-sac at the top of the road went:

Hoover Turbomaster U5096
Goblin Rio Reflex
Electrolux Contour z1460
Hoover Turbolite
Hoover Aquamaster

Back down the other side:

Hoover Turbopower 2 basic
Electrolux Twin Turbo z561
Hoover Turbopower U2194
Hoover Junior 1346A (blue)
Electrolux 560
Hoover Turbopower U2602
Panasonic MC-E41
Vax 2000
Hoover Junior (I don't remember much about this one. I think it was a recon)
Goblin Laser
Panasonic MC-E41

I start to lose track at this point. This is where there was a bend in the road and there was a gap in the houses, so I never really went that way much.

A lot of these were replaced whilst I was still living there and people moved too. There was a wave of Hoover Turbopower 2's for a while, then Dyson and other bagless vacs started coming in.

The first Dyson was, I think, next door to us. The lady with the Hoover U1222 died and when her house was sold, the family that moved in had a DC01 Antarctica Solo. Then the house over the road from us that had the Z561 got a DC04 Silver Lime. I forget after that.

Where we lived was a 1950's estate. A lot of families who had kids that I was at school with, so I could start naming vacuums from random houses 5 streets away, but I think that's taking it too far :P.

Ah cool!
You live/lived in Otley I think it was? There's a chance your neighbour sold her DC14 several months ago in Otley. Same model, lol. It never stood up so. I messaged her on how to fix it. She replied to me with something like this;
"man, I love you and want to have your babies. Just tried it and it worked perfectly. Will you marry me?!" 😂😂😂

You live/lived in Otley I think it was?

No, I lived in Baildon (not far from Otley). I now live in Utley, which sounds a bit like Otley and isn't far away, but it isn't Otley :P

I still frequent Baildon as my folks are there.

My neighbour's DC14 was constantly breaking, but she wasn't half rough with it. She'll have to do something with it though, it had bad bearings this time last year so god knows what it sounds like now.

Lol, haha cool! :)
I have the exact DC14 as your ex neighbour, I have abused mine for DIY we have done recently and its fine. Shame on that Dyson now, lol

Is it near Ilkley moor by tat?

Do you mean "Ilkley Moor Baht 'at"?  "Baht 'at" actually means "without a hat".

But yes, we're near Ilkley :).

"Ee bah gum" is an expression, not a place, and nobody has said it in 300 million years. My grandad used to say it ALL the time. Along with the word "hark".

I do like it up there. It's a beautiful county :-) South Yorkshire is a bit more industrialised ( there's a big word) But the Dales n Moors and York are lush.

Isn't it just? I love the fact that 10 minutes walk away from our house and you're in open country side and upto the Yorkshire dales, but then 25 minutes in the other direction (easilly accessible by train and bus) is Leeds (where I work) and Bradford. It's like the perfect balance between country and city living, having both a short distance away.

Equally, Wales has some gorgeous countryside and Cardiff is a lovely city! I just cannot get to grips with those North Wales roads - "No motorways? Windie country roads all the way? Get real, did we lose a war!?"

South Yorkshire has some bloody weird places in it!

Wow so cool
Here in Brum, to go to the countryside you have to drive 5 miles minimum :O
But I like it, loads of people and busy area with loads of shops etc :D

Chrism what do u think of Brum?

I've only been to Birmingham a few times. I remember the Christmas market was on and the city was PACKED. Definitely a live wire of a place to be and a fun place to visit. Not sure I'd want to live there though.

Also, Birmigham New Street station is actually hell on earth.
