I just scored a very nice Sentria 2 for $40. It has all the attachments except the shampooer.

I'm replacing a G5 that was my moms. But it has a broken switch. I tore it all apart. But I don't think it's worth putting back together since it has some other broken pieces.

So I was going to use the G5 shampooer, but it's missing the shield and foam piece. It would cost me roughly $20 with shipping to get the G5 shampooer going.

I looked on ebay for the proper Sentria 2 shampooer. Could get a nice one for around $30.

I was all set to buy one then I found a Avalir floor kit pretty cheap. So I bought that,,,lol.

To the point,,,finally.

Will the Avalir shampooer do any better of a job. Have you guys found any cheaper chemicals that do a good job.

My carpet is really bad. Should I just skip the Kirby and get it steam cleaned first.

Any advise. Thanks

If you've got the shampooer, you really don't have anything to lose other than your time so give it a shot and let us know how it works out.

Cheaper chemicals...

I found a product a year ago called Certi-Foam. A jug is half the cost of Kirby shampoo, and you need only about half of the amount of shampoo per tank of water. This makes using it a quarter of the cost of the Kirby branded shampoo. It's been a while since I shampooed a carpet, but I liked this shampoo when I used it.

Hope that helps.
