I repaired it myself. No big deal this time, just disassemble the neutral drive mechanism and lube the sliding gear on the rear wheel axle.
Oh yeah thats a very common issue with Generation Kirbys. The transmission shaft dries up and the whole gear system locks up solid. If not that, the little clip that holds the pedal on will unclip itself or break off and then the pedal falls off. I don't know if they used too little grease, or a grease with not enough viscosity to handle the wear, it seems using a higher quality thicker grease keeps it fixed forever.

It started clicking in neutral much too soon in its life, but a little grease was all it took for the gear wheel to slide out of the way of the cam bracket chingus.

The 1950s and 1960s were LOADED with a lot of quack science aimed at housewives to alleviate of them of pains from their hard laborious household chores. Not surprisingly a lot of those "miracle cures" ended up being deadly toxic chemicals.

Or this thing that shocks your face with 20-50v of AC line voltage to cure your tension.

The quacks and frauds are still out there peddling their bogus cures but now they do it on social media.
