Kirby G3 Help

I have a friend who gave me his recently deceased brothers Kirby G3. Id love to get it back to showroom condition for him, but Im stuck!

The outer bag is very dirty and needs a good washing, but for the life of me I cant figure out how to get the bag holder off the top! It is nothing like the earlier Kirbys or my Sentria..

Help?

On the back of the 'arm' the holds the bag top is a relise botton. Does that help?

Yeah, I know that. Im talking about the plastic bar on the top of the bag, that the fabric attaches into.
