My friends and I try to get together at least once a month for Vacuum themed fun. This weekend marks our “October mini meet“. Kirby was on everyone’s mind. And the “king of Kirby‘s“ came to visit. Adam is such a great friend. And a lot of fun. Like having Dawn Davenport for a friend.

Adam restored this Kirby 519, completely modernizing it while keeping it true to its original form. Even Mr. Zakk approves.

Nice

It looks like it was a blast. I'm digging the blue version 519. The vacuums look great and someone who lives for them around makes it even better.

That blue belt lifter decal always intrigued me. Did Adam custom make that or is it aftermarket? I know the red ones would say "to fit" in small letters but still had the Kirby logo.

The words "To Fit" are not on Adam's belt lifter. Interestingly, the three "lines" are why Adam calls his machine "Tammy" after Tammy's lashes. He bought that lifter, he did not make it.

Wow,

I love Costco! I just went to their website, and they are not listed, wondering if it is a local item.

Our closest Costco is an hour away. We generally drive down a couple of times a year.

Nicer than Sam's but probably a bit pricier.

I wonder what the price is on the Kirby and if the warranty is the same.

Kirby has been signing up vacuum shops to become authorized warranty service centers for some months now. This allows them to sell Kirby‘s at retail stores as well as shopping like QVC. I can imagine the huge amount of inventory they have, since door-to-door sales are almost a thing of the past. I do know they have some great things coming down the pike. Very soon in fact.

Don't get me wrong, the Kirby Avalir 2 is nice. And I do agree that selling online, and possibly thru vac shops, was a good idea for Right Lane Industries to pursue.

But Costco and QVC? No way!! The product still needs to be demonstrated to a potential customer so they can see the value in the Kirby, and also they can decide if they can get used to converting it when needed. The website works for customers who just prefer that method of buying, but not ideal.

I can totally see how Kirby will have to substantially lower the price of the Avalir and devalue it. They are also going to have their distributors resentful to them and many will likely leave the DTD business or switch to another brand. And I can also seeing this as leading to the end of Kirby :(

Saturday

The demo day at costco it will be demod.
There getting vacuums readily available.
They may be able to get a new model that's not a g series

Kirby being sold out of vac shops is a good idea-Costco and other box stores----NO!The Kirbys in boxes on the shelves at Costco isn't goin g to sell.People see the high priced Kirbys-then next to them the bargain price brands.
A vac store can properly demo the machine.Maybe not as good as in your house-but a demo nonetheless.NO demo at Costco.Like trying to sell VitaMix and Blentec blenders at box places-at a demo folks can see what those can do-then not just ordinary "blenders" Like Kirby not an ordinary vacuum.
