Yes...

Mr M. That's a very accurate test isn't it....NOT! I'm sure that's how all manufactures test their vacuums filteration

Haha I'm not saying it's the most accurate test James but it does show particles escaping and none from the other 2 cleaners.

I hope the Kirby does have HEPA filtration as I'm considering getting one to use every 2 weeks or so.:-)

Hi

No it doesn't it shows it coming off the bag not through it..... You don't know what bag is fitted inside the Kirby either. They Kirby looks like it's seen the most use as well as the bag has begun to fade.

Also he's using it as a demo to sell the Miele. The chances are he sells Dyson's also.

On the G4 instruction video they show you how they test the filtration. They have it in a sealed container and have a tube attached to the nozzle and they measure the amount of particles going in and also count the number of particles coming out .

Oh I'll have to have a look at that. And yes you are probably correct he's trying to flog a few Mieles and Dysons.:-)

Oh sales people are so shifty! Haha

You can't get more shifty than a Kirby salesman though! :-)[this post was last edited: 3/17/2015-07:01]

Marcus, I heard from a reliable source that the demo that shows the particle meter measuring particles escaping the Kirby outer bag is a HOAX! You want to know why? The Kirby did not have an inner bag installed! There was no inner bag to catch those particles. So James is correct. There is something very fishy going on in that video.

Yes probably. Damn those shifty sales people :-)

You do know Sentria comes from the word Sentus who was the Roman god of shifty sales people.

HEPA filtration came out with the Kirby G6, but the cool thing is it's all in the inner bags so any Kirby made in the last 30 years or so can receive a quick and easy HEPA upgrade just by putting in a bag. Not too many manufacturers would allow that to happen. Most would make the newer bags incompatible with older models.

I question several things in his "test"

Though I do not doubt the Miele test as they have very efficient filters.

However:

1. He never showed us the readings, so we pretty much took his word for it.

2. He only showed us the bag in the Miele.

3. The outer bag is part of the filter on Kirby, but it could have been covered with surface dust that did not come through the machine.

The bristles on the Kirby brushroll don't get close to the edge but because it produces so much airflow and has suction channels i think it does edge clean.

Maybe someone could do a video demonstrating this?

Marcus: Here is a video which I also posted in another thread of a metal royal upright cleaning next to a wall. The Kirby will clean just as good as this Royal because of the similar design..

Start watching at minute 6:00 through minute 8:30

Yes it does a great job!

But I bet you don't agree with him that it is the best cleaner on the market :-)
