I have the opportunity to purchase a fully rebuilt Kirby Classic III that looks like it just rolled out of Cleveland ! It was built in 1976, and the price is $ 250.00, but no attachments....I have a 5 year old Sentria with all the bells and whistles in flawless shape that I use daily...love Kirbys...should I go for it? More of a Royal person, but change is good! Thanks !

YES

Go for it! You'll love the Classic III. You can find a full array of attachments and accessories on Ebay and/or Craigslist.

Sounds high to me since it has no attachments. Has all the rubber trim and wheels been replaced, and original, or genuine Kirby red plaid replacement bag? So many vacs over the years are "rebuilt" with bojack parts. I had mine redone at a local vac shop years ago with a buff job, all new trim, cord. wheels, bearings and the basic set of attachments for less than that, but things are getting to be higher now. I'm lucky as I have someone local who buffs Kirbys very reasonably. While he has it apart, replaces bearings and other parts as necessary. If you don't have to pay shipping, I'd try and talk him/her down some, but that's just me.

the Classic III has been completely redone even down to the motor brushes, the bag is the original in perfect shape, and the trim is perfect...but I can also find a Kirby "500 series" model in fine shape with all the attachments, from my dealer, in good shape except for a buffing, for $50.00, and it even has the Handi-Butler...and it is a hell of a lot lighter to push than a Classic ! Decisions, decisions !
