Kirby Classic 1-CR with 5 Amp Motor

This is a 1970 Kirby Classic 1-CR, but it has a 5 amp motor instead of a 6 amp motor, so that would mean the latter would've appeared during the latter months of 1970. How many Kirby collectors out there have the 5-amp Classic?

I used to have a 1-CR.  If I'm not mistaken, it ran at 5 amps with the rug nozzle and 6 amps in hose mode.

Is it 5 or 6 amps on your machine's nameplate? The 5 amp rating would only apply to the very early models with the R-coded serial # (think R000001 through about R500000).

i have a classic, but i forgot if its a classic 1-cr, or classic omega. ill dig it out of the closet in a little bit and report back to you.

mine is a classic 1-cr serial #180808 6-amps, strange huh?
