When restoring my Kirby 508 I needed to replaces the belt lifter. So I looked on eBay to see what I could find. It was my lucky day. I found not one, but two pristine 508 belt lifters on two 508 floor polishers. Both had never been use still in the box.
One thing I noticed was the color of the logo paint. Both of the belt lifters were done in grey paint, one a little darker then the other. Other 508 belt lifters I've seen on the floor nozzles were painted a off white color.
Could it be that the 508 floor nozzles and floor polishers were painted in different colors from the factory? Pictured are the two 508 belt lifters that came off the floor polishers...note the grey color.
If you are looking for a good like new belt lifter for any of your early 500 series Kirby's, Floor polishers can be a good place to look if your willing to pay a little more. I have never noticed any 508 floor polishers since and the 508 belt lifer is the rarest of all the 500 series.
