Which bearing part numbers did you use?
Which direction were the bearings installed? The bearings in this model have a correct way to install and this is the last model like that.
You need the 1160 bearing for the front and the shoulder faces toward the cooling fan as shown in the picture below. They have since updated the bearing plate to use the newer style bearing found in the Omega all the way to the G-Series. The 1CR was the last Kirby unit to use the shouldered bearings.
Mike (repairman) is right. If you need to get a new front bearing plate for this in the future, order part no. 116884 which will use the current style 116073 front bearing.
