Kenmore has some new uprights - none of which look like they are from Panasonic. The first is this Budget Bagged Upright at $59.99 (they also have a silver $99 model). The second is a similar machine for $59.99 but it is bagless & has again, a silver $99 counterpart. Finally, we have the brand new Kenmore Elite Bagged Upright with DirectDrive Technology. This machine reminds me of a Miele and is very sleek in it's appearance at $350.00

I posted on these in the last thread about new Kenmore vacuums. However I did not here anything about the new Kenmore Elite. I'm not surprised they named it that way, as we have Kenmore Elite washers, dryers, dishwashers, and fridges. I'm not sure if we are getting this model at my store. Looks interesting though.

I guess these uprights are to go with the new bagless canisters. Haven't seen any at my store yet. To me that Kenmore Elite has an odd shape to it. Strange it doesn't have a pedal style height adjustment like the Intuitions have. Those blue bagged and bagless uprights look like they might be made by Eureka - just a guess. The attachments are vaguely Panasonic though.

[COLOR=#333399; font-family: times new roman, times; font-size: medium]The cheap machines felt very flimsy in store. The blue green Intuition is marked down to $229 & they didn't have any of the new Elite uprights. I did notice on the bagless PN Canisters they are giving them numbers 600 Series for the full sized model and 200 series for the cheap one. Also, even if that Elite is made by Panasonic - it is a change of pace because usually the wheels for Panasonic-for-Kenmore uprights are on the undercarriage of the main body, instead of riding on the outside as is the case with these machines. The Elite model should have more features IMO. It doesn't have the pedal height adjustment the Intuitions do, just that knob that one must bend over to adjust. None of Kenmore's current uprights have the features that the Progressives of a few years ago had. Gentle Sweep agitation setting for delicate items. Three power levels that could be manually set as well as the Inteliclean setting that would vary the suction automatically based on how much dirt was picked up. I think the Elite model should have these features if it's an Elite.

As far as the manufacturers, I'd say based on the Elite model's reset button and attachments, it is likely made by Panasonic. It is odd that the full size bagless canister model starts with 600. It seems to be made by Panasonic, as it has a Cen-Tec powerhead and Panasonic attachments and wands. All the current Kenmore canister model numbers still start with 116.

The model number on the canisters starts with 116, but on the dust cup & on the power head of the smaller one, they are assigned numbers of 200 and 600 series. The Full Size Bagless is based off of a Panasonic design - see here: http://shop.panasonic.com/shop/model/MC-CL935

The more I look at the newer budget uprights the more I see TTI influence on them, particularly the place where the motor sits. This is the same TTI-motor type pack seen on a good number of the Hoover and Dirt Devil bagless machines.

Well, we know that a good number of bagless (and bagged) Kenmore uprights were indeed Dirt Devil's. Saw the Kenmore version of the Dirt Devil "Reaction" just this past weekend at a thrift shop. I know LG made a bagless Kenmore upright, as did Samsung. I too am curious as to the manufacturer of these new Kenmore uprights. I did order the Panasonic-built Kenmore bagless canister to test out - should be here tomorrow. Sure do hope I like it.

I got the big one. It was on sale for $299 when I ordered it on Friday, but went down $30 on Monday. I called Sears and they refunded the $30 - apparently they have a price match guarantee. The Kenmore version has the electric mini power head, the Panasonic (which costs $329) has a turbo mini power head. The Kenmore was the better buy.

The high efficiency cyclones are absolutely designed correctly. The shroud is too, and it's removable so the entire cyclone assembly can get a bath whenever I want to clean it. Excellent copy of a Dyson's cyclones. And for the low price of $269. Who knew?

Shroud and fine dust collector chamber removed, showing view of high efficiency cyclone tips, where the fine dust is expelled. So easy to wash. And, this vacuum is quiet as well. Sears has come a LONG way from the Destiny (rebadged Fantom Lightning) days.

Would you rate it better than the Hoover WindTunnel Anniv. Bagless? It is a very nice looking machine.

I would rate it above the Anniversary Windtunnel Hoover for several reasons. The neck has a swivel to it, not much, but more than the non-existent swivel on the Hoover. The Kenmore is quieter. They've managed to muffle the worst tone in a bagless, which is a high piercing sound from the high efficiency cyclones. Very good on Panasonic's part. The hose and tools are above the Hoover's quality. And let's not forget the electric mini power nozzle. I love the fact that Sears provided a parts break down, so I can in fact, order any repair parts I ever need for the Kenmore. In my opinion, it's a far better buy than the Hoover.

Nice looking machine. I guess it doesn't have a bare floor brush or upholstery tool? Looks like you have to use the PN in off mode to clean hard floors. Panasonic doesn't usually make canisters without a floor brush or upholstery tool, but maybe they did in this case because there's no tool storage for them except on the wand.

The mini power nozzle is the upholstery tool. The dusting brush is pretty decent. You don't get a bare floor tool with it, but on Kenmore's website a genuine Floor brush is $9. I don't need the floor brush, I have almost no bare floors to vacuum. This one is going to stay around the house for a while. It's a very impressive vacuum.

I saw this vacuum myself in Sears recently. Very nice, & the size of the HEPA filter & how it is sealed, is very impressive. The ONLY thing that stopped me from purchasing is I don't like the nylon bristles on the dusting brush, & the size of the dustbin is too small for my liking...would easily fill that up 2 or 3 times when I clean. If Sears can improve on this in a couple of years time, though, by making it with better tools & a larger capacity dustbin, they have a smash hit here.

The dusting brush may be available with natural horsehair bristles. I know it used to be in the 1980s - early 2000s on the Premier, Whispertone, and early Progressives.

The dusting brush bristles not being horsehair isn't a deal breaker for a vacuum that costs (as of today's sale) $259. I noticed that the dusting brush is full size, and removes all the dust and smudge from a somewhat dusty unused end table top, about as effectively as my Electrolux dusting brush with horsehair bristles.

For any of our European friends, this Kenmore is the perfection of what James Dyson started with the DC05 MotorHead. The Power Nozzle is worlds better in terms of cleaning ability. Build quality is double the DC05 MotorHead's. But they're the same size, with the same capacity, of course the Kenmore is now Multi-Cyclonic. But the basic elements of DC05 are there. DC05 used to be my favorite Dyson canister, but can now honestly say I don't have one any more. The Kenmore has replaced it with what DC05 should have been all along.

I went to Sears today and they had these bagless machines on display. The purple one is the same color as the Progressive bagged canister blueberry.

I found the smaller silver one very interesting. Neat little PN on it, not sure who makes it. It has a variable speed control on the handle.

There was also one of the silver ones in the clearance section, I guess someone had already bought one and returned it.

Not sure how it's used on bare floors though, I didn't see a brushroll shutoff and there's no floor brush with it.
