Kenmore Progressive Direct Drive with Powermate Jr

In the eBay section, I posted a listing for a Kenmore Progressive Direct Drive that must have been TOL in its time. It has the dirt sensor and an electric hose and Powermate Jr like came with Progressive canisters.

I was wondering how rare this version is and how old it is?

It was common in Sears, and it might be at least a decade old, maybe a little bit older.
