I went to the ReStore today and found this little Kenmore. It was only $2 and my mother said yes. I was suprised that it worked, and even more suprised that it had the PowerMate and that worked too. Once I got into it I started to notice problems. The hose had tiny slits near the handle, and the connector at the base of the PowerMate had a small crack. The brush is also kinda toasted. I plan to restore this machine. Anyone know when this was made, and where I can find bags? Also, what kind of paint should I use on the handle and nozzle. I think this was a steal for such a great machine.

Nice find, I believe this is from the mid-1960s.

It should use 5011 bags but 5033/type E bags should work if not someone will know. You can order 5033 bags online or Sears might have them with the bags. I don't think 5011 is made anymore but could get NOS ones.

Around

64 -67, Those hoses are easily found, they used them for many years, the PN might be a easy fix.

Thanks

Good. I got it out of fear it might have been dumpstered. If it was a cheap crappy PlastiVac, I would've passed it right up. The average consumer doesn't want an old, beat up vacuum that smells like musty old grandma basement (This one does!) . They want the new shiny Dyson. I bet the person who got rid of it will regret it in a year, when their PlastiCrap breaks. I put dirt down on my test rug, and it sucked it right up, even with the split hose. From what I hear, these hoses were prone to splitting. Do you know where I can find attachments too?

Thanks,
Adin

Great find.....I have this machine. Does anyone know where I can get a filter to go over the motor? Thanks so much! Richard.
