Kenmore magic blue help

I have this magic blue that I bought from eBay a couple of years ago and for the longest time I can't figure out how the upholstery tool fits on the end of the hose. Am I missing something?

Does it

Attach to the crevice tool and not the hose? I have seen that before but I can't recall if it was that late magic blue that did that or another vacuum all together. Just a thought.

I tried that and it did not work, I wonder if there is an adaptor for it?

That is very odd

Not very useful if it can't be attached to the hose. I had the early gray magic an all the tools on that one fit the hose and the wand. Makes me wonder why they would change that.

I have the same model. The upholstery tool will only fit onto the extension wand. Why this is, I don't know. It sure is frustrating at times.
