Bobby, this one's for you.

This is the Kenmore Dura Power Model 216.37045800, with "Dual Cyclone Action." This one has a serial number of 2408005137. They used different serial number formats for different models in this series, but the third and fourth digit "08" are contemporary with production of other models.

I mentioned these in a previous post when we were discussing the Phone Mate-made Kenmore uprights. Well, another one has come my way. I had the last one in inventory for so long, that it was another model that I told myself "no more of these."

As also happens, when a really nice one comes along, it's difficult to pass it by. This one was in very nice, clean condition. The filters were moderately dirty, it had a broken belt, and the handle release button was missing (not uncommon on this series).

It didn't take much work to put this one back in a salable condition, so I'll start with a lower price than the last one I had (which required new filters and more work). Maybe this one will move more quickly.

Those handle release buttons just snap in place, and must come out fairly easily in the hands of consumers. I've had this issue before on this series. The replacement for this machine is a color mismatch, as I had a couple of these parts from donor machines but not maroon ones.

Some models in this series have power switches in the handle, and are wired to a PCB further down that in turn activates the motor when the switch up top is pressed. It's a little dodgy-sounding if you're not used to it, as there is a slight delay before the machine actually starts working. The flickery headlamp immediately during start is also characteristic of this set-up.

Other models have a simple on/off switch activated by a foot lever toward the bottom of the handle/case. This are simple electrical switches with no pico-second delay.

As I've said before, these are heavy, bulky machines but this one is the heaviest one in the series I've encountered so far. It weighs 26 pounds. Part of that weight comes from the motorized automatic carpet level adjustment mechanism.

I have several of these used only once or twice (new) I am near Atlantic city . I am selling them for $50.00 a piece . I have the top of the line bagged brown one I think I have two of those ,plus I have a blue bagless one no pics yet because they are deep in my vacuum closet between hundreds of vacuums .

Hmm...

I would be VERY interested. I know this will sound like "kill me now" but would you be able to post a pictue of them, or atleast find out the model numbers so I can google what they look like? Thanks!

Thanks for sharing.... it is fascinating, though I think they are hideous! LOL Apparently that model was made to compete with the dirt devil reaction?

Your substitute handle release pedal actually looks pretty good on there.... now if it had been green or blue or something, it would have looked really bad.... you know lots of manufacturers are making the "action" parts of the vacuum a different color than the rest, and this would seem to be in keeping wit that theory.

Compare this to that Kenmore, at least as far as the dirt chamber goes... very similar....

My choice of colors on handle release buttons was the gold/yellow color or avocado. Gold was tolerable, but avocado just didn't do it. If I hadn't had the yellow one, I think I would've gotten out some red spray paint for the avocado.

Well

Than I guess I have to pass as I don't need both at the moment. Also, if you didn't want to sell them, you could've just said so instead of trying to sell them as a pair as most people don't need two vacuums that are technically identical, unless you weren't doing that than sorry. Also, what did you mean about the auto brush shutoff? If you're really having your heart set on selling both, than keep them aside as I will be interested in the near future. Thanks.
