Mark, Im glad you like your Renaissance. I really wish someone would make HEPA bags for the machine, but I truely wish that Aerus brings this body style back one day and then makes their own HEPA-type R-bags. I know thats a long shot but I'm allowed to dream lol. As far as the regualr bags, if you can get a case of Genuine Lux bags for $50, thats not bad at all. I think about 7 or 8 years ago I paid around $75 for a case of 100 C-style bags at my Electrolux dealer. I believe I paid about $35 for a case of 24 R-style bags a few months ago. When you figure out the cost per bag, less than $1.50 each, I dont feel bad about tossing the bag every 3 to 4 weeks or as soon as I notice the slightest odor. The Renaissace isnt my main vacuum, I use the VacuFlo for most cleaning, and the Renny gets used in between or for quick pick ups.

As far as the hose, I dont know if there is an after market replacement for the Renaissance units. I think the only option is to purchase one directly from Aerus. But DO NOT under any circumstances try to use a hose that is not a Renaissance hose on your machine!! I remember hearing years ago from the vacuum shop and reading on the old vacuum forum that the newer hoses for the Epic 8000-Guardian will cause the computer board to short out if used on the Renny. If you are careful with the hose, I dont think you will have a problem. Besides your machine is a later model in the light gray color scheme, which had an improved hose over the original two tone dark gray unit, which is the machine that I own. You can see the difference in the handle controls in the picture of my unit, sorry its not the best photo because I took it with my iPhone.

Wow! That is darker than mine! So mine is a later model renaissance? Cool! Regarding the bags: The 100 count bags are generic 4 ply, not genuine. He included four of these and one micro filter (also generic) They seem to work good which is kind of shocking to me because they have the cheapest feel of any vacuum bag I've ever seen. I mean, the paper Kenmore micro lined DVC bags are much thicker feeling than these. I have no idea who makes these. They are brown and self sealing though. I haven't bought them yet. I think the 100 count genuine is 95 dollars, but someone told me that Lux didn't make their own genuine bags, that some other company made them for them; that they were no better than the generic.

I do notice that there are three speeds on the unit. If you're using the LOW speed suction and turn the PN on, the PN has much more power than when the unit is on high speed. Too bad it can't maintain that power on the PN when on full suction. I guess that's normal.

I also like the fact that it has a blower on it. I know the vacuum shop I bought it from said it had been cleaned and tuned. I wonder what the definition of "tuned" is exactly in a vacuum. I've never heard of a vacuum being "tuned". Then again, I don't work on them : D

Unbelievable

Well, it happened! The electronics in the hose are already starting to go. The seller is sending me another hose. Here's exactly what's happening. So I'm vacuuming and I'm pushing the PN under the bed and when I laid the wand almost flat against the floor to get way under the bed, the PN power shut off, I thought I accidentally hit the button, so I pushed the button and that turned the PN back on, it went off again. The main vacuum continued to run..In order for the machine to turn off you have to unplug it from the wall. The only thing that seems to work is the turning PN on and off. You can't change speeds. It stays on high speed. Too bad I already am having this issue because I love this vacuum

Mark, Sorry to hear that the hose is giving you a problem already but, its great that the seller is sending you a new one! I feel like its one of those things that you just shouldnt talk about because you may jinks a good thing that you have going at the moment.

As for the bags, I've owned many Electrolux machines over the years, various uprights and canisters and I have always used Genuine Electrolux/Aerus bags in my machines. The way I see it, for me the price is right for the genuine paper Lux bags, so I wont switch to an after market bag since I have never had a problem with the bags themselves. The only non-Electrolux bags that I do use, not really after market, are the Perfect PowerTeam HEPA C-type bags. Obviously because they offer better filtration and airflow, overall a higher quality bag in my opinion.

As for the power nozzle not having the same amount of power on all three speeds, you may be 100% correct. However I just finished using mine and I was thinking about what you said. I love that I can set the unit on "low" and use it on something like the small bathroom area rugs which are usually a real pain to clean since they have a rubber backing and get sucked up into most power nozzles. Anyway, I used my Renny on a dense wool area rug and played around with the motor speed. I may be wrong but I think that you may notice that the nozzle seems to have "more power" on a lower speed becuase there is less drag on the power nozzle motor. With greater suction the power nozzle seals itself more firmly to the rug (I have several very dense area rugs that are truely a PIA to vacuum, even my Diamond Edition is difficult to use on them with the TechDrive engaged) therefore creating more drag on the motor, hence it seems as though the motor is not moving at the same rate as it does on a lower speed (which it probably isnt, buts the motor isnt at fault). Again, this is just my own theory and I dont mean to discredit what you said in any way, but I never noticed any difference until you pointed it out, and in my own home I can attribute this change in power not to the machine but the rug itself.

I hope your Renny is back up and running in proper order soon!

This is the very aftermarket hose that there is some confusion by several people as to whether it will work on the Renny or not. Notice in their listing, it says Renaissance. I've contacted several sellers about this very hose. Half say it will work, and half say it will not work. I don't think this is the very LATEST guardian or 8000 styles hose, but the one before it. So I don't know
