Hey Guys:

Just wanted to let you guys know. I just lost over 1/2 of my collection and all of my spare parts.

I'm in Calgary just starting on my holidays. Got a phone call. My apartment building (I own it but dont live there) is on fire - arson. Its a total loss so everything that was stored there is gone. Sigh I dont know what to do.

At least all the tenants got out.

"Well, it's only some old vacuums that got destroyed."   BUT, it is history...........

Vacs, in many ways, chronical world events and trends of society.

So very sorry for your loss.

Sending you only the best thoughts to help you get through something so awful.

Oh good grief!

That would be like loosing children,,,I wish I was closer so I could at least lend some moral support, I think I speak for everyone when i say Im truly sorry. Hans

Hi

Hi Doug, So Sorry to hear your news. I agree with Alistair I think it's something we all dread might happen one day.I don't know how I would feel.
Do you know what makes/models etc are gone? Was your most treasured makes and models at that location??

Best wishes

James:o)

Doug, I am so sorry to hear of your loss! It's a collector's worst nightmare come true, as others have stated. And to think someone could be evil enough to do this in this day & age....they have not only affected your life, but that of your tenants as well.

If there is anything I can do, or any way I can be of help during this period, please either call or message me on Facebook. And know that you will have support from all of us on Vacuumland, & on my Facebook group. I'm sure everyone feels badly for your loss, & when the time is right, perhaps members can help you rebuild some of your collection pieces that are gone.

Hi Guys:

I know I lost alot of stuff but my Electrolux's, Goblins, Presidents and Lewyts as well as some others were at the house and the Old Hoovers are on display at the museum. When I get home I'll have to take an inventory and see what was where. Next to nothing for spare parts and machines left though. That was all there.

Doug

Doug, let me add my sincere condolences, what horrible thing to happen! We're all behind you. While the loss of the building and part of your collection is gut-wrenching, thank God there was no loss of life.

Doug:

I hope the damage will be less than you fear.

If it is substantial, I offer this - in the full knowledge that it's not adequate comfort:

For reasons I won't bore people here with, I lost over 90% of my personal possessions and collections, three years ago. I was devastated; my whole LIFE was represented there.

But since then, some things have been replaced with duplicates, some things I never owned have surfaced, and I've had many a new adventure in the meantime. Those adventures have led to new friends.

So, it was a terrible thing to have happen, but I'm still here, and a new life has begun. I hope you won't have to start all over again, but if you do, it does get better.

Doug I am so sorry for what happened. It just makes me feel so sad to know all of those beautiful machines are gone. I remember exactially what it looked like there last time I came and visited it is truly such a shame and my heart goes out to you so sorry. Zach
