WOW, I have used alot of those vacuums! I own that Oreck, I have the newer red Windtunnel, the blue one is a Tempo now, I have repaired some of those Eurekas, and friend of mine had that Panasonic upright, my family owned that Hoover Soft 'n Light, and my grandparents had the green caddy vac! Boy do I miss them. Thanks for posting!

Don't you think that $100 is a bit much for an Elite, even new?

Well

Yeah made in USA was even a big deal then considering the Panasonic and Sharp vacuums shown there were made in Japan and Spain.

I once had the Eureka World Vac canister....loved that cleaner!!! The floor brush stored on board, and that power nozzle was great - very maneuverable and it was like it had its own power drive.....Mine was in a cool cranberry red colour.

Thanks for posting Kyle. I enjoyed looking at that. I have the one from 1996... I just bought a new Canon wireless all in one scanner/printer so maybe I will figure out how to use it and post pics. SOMEWHERE around here I have one from 198? something that I stole from high school when we were doing a project and it has the Concepts (the black on with the chrome handle is sooooo sexy!) and the Decade and the Whrilpool Kenmore uprights and Singer Kenmore uprights... I love all of them! Maybe if I can find it, I'll post it too.

It's amazing to see the changes from 96 to 97. 97 was the beginning of vacuums as we know them today, when the bagless craze started thanks to Fantom. In 96, there were no Whirlwinds or Windtunnels... they only had the Fantom Thunder (at least in the JC Penny Catolog).... they had things like Hoover Preffered and I think the Demension upright and futura canister (I think it's been a while since I looked at it). Eurekas were the Powerlines and World Vacs and top of the like was the Excalibur both canister and upright. They had the bagged Dirt Devil stick vac with the triangle head and a Bissell Big Green clean machine with power nozzle (I always wanted that one, we had the regular one growing up). I was obsessed with Fantoms when they came out! They also had a Bissell hand vac that was similar to the original Dirt Devil and a Eureka SHOP VAC of all things!

Thanks for posting the neat pictures Kyle, I have the Wind Tunnel Supreme. I had no idea they were that expensive new.

Terry
