Saw this on CraigsList...

For $20, I figured it was worth the 20-minute drive. You don't really see many of these, with the powerhead. I could really care less about Dirt Devils, but this is one of those "Regina Housekeeper" type things, that we probably won't be seeing lots and lots of.

It is eXtReMeLy cheaply made! But it will be fun to clean up and play with! I had to put a fresh bag in it and a new belt on it... It's pretty noisy--but does an ok job cleaning. It grooms the carpet nicely and has decent suction. It sounds like it has a Lamb motor in it. But, being all plastic, the noise kind-of resonates and that makes it kind of loud. But I do have to say it's pretty light-weight and easy to maneuver. I like the compact size. The powerhead really isn't very big.

It has a manufacture date of 1995 inside of the bag chamber.

I'll play with it for a while, then put it in the archives. LoL!

I always wondered how those sounded and cleaned. that is a really neat find. you mention that it does a nice job cleaning how much brush life on the power head is there. and that is in really good shape. I think I might have some tools for it if you are intrested but I do need to find them in my attachment boxes.

I have one, bought new in 1995, when I was cleaning houses
part time. I used it for 2/3 years in my town house apt.
Gave it to my daughter and son-in-law when they married.
Got it back in 2005. Always wanted to order the Power
Nozzle for it. Would look at the parts sheet and then put
it off. Yes,it is loud and not quite a easy to use as
a Eureka mighty might. Which is what I bought next and have
had for 10 or 11 years now.
I have it on display as part of my Royal Dirt Devil group!

Oh my golly gosh goodness, Fred. I have one of those with all the cords cut off awaiting surgical intervention. LOL

Mine came as-is off the curbside, I thought it was cute and the on board dusting brush, crevice tool and power nozzle clinched its rescue.

I'm guessing the cord needs to be at least the length of the wands and hose combined, from the remaining body plug stub to the PN?

Oh wait, from that same curbside haul I have this upscale Dirt Devil VISION power nozzle with cord and chrome wands. So I think I should configure the same arrangement of two cords joining at the hose to wand handle...

I find it interesting that both hoses shown, both Fred's and Dave's; have their powercord for the powerbrush on the outside of the hose and strapped to it a'la old Rainbow or Electrolux.

The two that I've had in the past, and my most current one, have an all electric hose in black with a pigtail on the end to plug into the cleaner. The hose reminds me of the 9 ft. one that they used to use on the old Air-Way Sanitizor. It was a vinyl non-rigid hose that was technically called crushproof (thought I tend to argue otherwise). Eureka used this similar style of hose also.

Anyway, to sum this up, yes their loud, and the cansiter kinda likes to flip over on it's side when tugged to hard, but suction is quite decent (when the bag is not half or more full), and the powerbrush for it's size is suprisingly good at brushing up the nap on most rugs.

Glad to see that another one is saved. And as Fred noted, there arent too many of these left. And it is an oddity like a Housekeeper and should be preserved.

I've been trying to find an early Dirt Devil Upright for some time now. I have the Broom Vac, which I bought new from Woolworth's, used once and put into my collection. They had an aggressive ad campaign in the early-mid '90's (I especially liked the commercials with Fred Astaire). Unfortunately the quality of the motors was somewhat lackluster, so even when I did find one curbside the motor was burned out. Nowadays, they're pretty hard to come by, even though they were hot sellers.
