What goes best with a cold, gloomy, rainy day?

Yes, soup of course!

But not just any soup -- home-made chicken-vegetable soup!

To celebrate our first big rain of the year, I made a pot of soup with fresh chicken, celery, carrot, tomato, broccoli, cauliflower, yellow squash, sweet potato, mushrooms and onion. I seasoned it with crushed garlic, slivered ginger, soy sauce, black pepper, coconut palm sugar (just a pinch), spiced vinegar, fresh lime juice, and a sprig of basil and thyme from our windowsill herb garden.

I had it along with a slice of home-made nine-grain bread and some cranberry chutney that I fixed for Thanksgiving dinner.

Come on over and have a bowl!

Looks like that can cure the common cold!

Charles,

Perhaps in 2015, you could devote an entire week to a certain food group: week 1: soups, 2: salads, 3: pastries, 4: entrees.
You should write a cookbook. I thought about that once. I'd call it, 'Come on over to my kitchen. I'll whip up a little something> I may even have a little "whip".
Plans changed.
Oh well, your delicacies look tasty.

Sounds delicious and healthy--like all your recipes, Charles. Have you considered assembling a cookbook for the health-conscious and those with Diabetes?

I have thought about putting together a cookbook. If I do, it would be published in PDF format rather than printed hard-copy. That's partly due to the high cost of production of a hard-copy book and partly due to the fact that I'm constantly adding recipes to it!

I began saving my "creations" in 2003 and currently have almost 300 recipes in my "Chef Charles" file. So even publishing it on-line would be a lot of work, initially. Hence the inertia against getting started on it.......

Chef Charles, I agree that the PDF format would be the way to go. I do hope the cookbook will become a reality at some point but can understand that it would be a huge undertaking. Here's to inertia!
