At a thrift store. Saw this. Mode 1348 made in England. I don’t know much about Hoover’s , seemed in great shape
Is this Hoover rare?

In a way, yes. And yes it was made in England, but only in part: the bag, cord and handle were added on after the cleaner motor unit was sent here to North Canton, OH.
Cleaners this size were quite popular in England and in other parts of the UK, but took a while to catch on here in the US. Hoover made a similar small upright, the Lark, from 1953 to 1958.
The 1348 was produced from 1972 to 1978. It was the US market equivalent of the 1346A.

if you dont want it, someone who collects mid century/70's hoovers will in this group. thats all original and in very good shape. yes those are rare. not insanely, but they didnt make very many.

Darn it!
I didn’t check back to the forum b4 I left there. I was surprised how good of condition it wa. I should have gotten it. I can try again next week :-(

I was very lucky to be given one.
Plus, I found one at a yard sale.. $5.00 almost died.
They were also, sometimes called the "apartment vac", because it was perfect for a small apartment.
The "Dirtsearcher" is 'on my list'. A great little cleaner, and, takes a nice C bag.

Man if I saw one at a thrift store like goodwill and saw this vacuum in this condition, I would go ape n bananas!!!!! I would also die if I saw one along with the original rare hose attachment! Hopefully I’ll find one, u never know!

Never give up! I've found so many of my dream vacs I never thought I would own on my budget. Like getting a Electrolux XXX for $25! (rusty and incomplete but no difference to me) All eBay finds because my area is just devoid of anything rare or unique, but I still keep my eyes open when thrifting.

Came back to the resale shop to take a look at this 1348 again. They want $40 for it. That seems high to me

I no longer collect Hoovers. But if I had come across this vacuum, I would have gotten it. It is actually quite beautiful. Looks great from the pictures.
Tell them you are a collector and see that the vacuum had been taken care of very well. Now you would like to continue it's care.
