Installed my new kevlar fan on my Kirby Classic and really need an question answered

Well, my new kevlar Kirby fan arrived today. I installed it and it seemed to work GREAT! It picked a load of crud out of the carpet and has AMAZING suction! I am SOOOOO happy I can use my beloved Kirby Classic again! And thanks to all who helped and gave me advice in previous posts.

The only thing that worries me is the sound. It seems to be a LOT different. Much faster and a screaming noise. It doesn't sound extremely threatening but it worries me that I did something wrong with the bearings. I didn't remove anything from the vacuum when I replaced the fan. First, I inserted what looked like the bearing(didn't know if should have used any sealant or lube), slid on the fan on, and screwed on the pulley. Did I do anything wrong? Someone PLEASE tell me I did it right.

The "bearing" you slid on was actually a spacer and "slinger" to isolate the shaft from the seal. You did install the rubber seal right?

The sound with the kevlar fan will be much different than the metal fan. The metal fan is MUCH quieter, and has sort of a grumble to it. The Kevlar fan will have sort of a "scream" to it and will be higher pitched since it has 11 blades instead of 10.

Sounds like you didn't do anything wrong. The plastic fans just sound different. Kind of annoying IMHO...

Well then,

I guess I left the original bearings on with the original seal on them. I got that part right. But do I need to lube the spacer?

I didn't read the rest of your post. I'm glad I did it right. I've never replaced a fan before and I feel much better now.
