In the market for a new Hoover shampooer

I've always had pretty good luck with different Hoover shampooers and was wondering which one you all thought was the best one available now. I've looked through most of them and they all look pretty decent, but I'm curious to know, in your opinions, which is BEST. Thoughts?

Yes I know Hoover has changed but I've always loved that company and I like to think they still make a good product. They don't make many vacuums that I would buy now though.

I have always had Hoover Steamvacs, but recently bought a Bissell Proheat 2x at a resale shop, and I have to say I'm extremely impressed. Excellent cleaning with very aggressive brushes, and very hot water. I do have to give credit to Hoover for extraction though, the Bissell lacks a bit in that department. Overall, if I had to buy another one, it would be the Bissell. I have never seen water as brown as what I pull out of our carpets with it.

Don't buy the MAXExtract Pressure Pro or Platinum; plastic is VERY fragile

Hoover Steam vac

I have a Hoover All Terrain Steam vac It looks very similar to a Hoover Dual V steam vac. It is the best Hoover steam vac I have ever owned. It has such strong suction it even pulls sand out of the carpet. I am very impressed.. Dan

A buddy of mine, she is a big ole farm girl and the dirt of a farm had to borrow my Dual V,cringe! She had used the neighbors Bissell with the bladder dirty water tank? I have not seen it. She said it seemed to clean pretty good but was too wet after, needed mine to get up some water. I think it helped? Trailer with particle wood floor and carpet, wet is NOT good. I cringe what it might have smelled like. Yes mine got completely washed out and rinsed when it came back.

I absolutely love my recently purchased Power Path Pro. I had tried the smaller red version of the Rug Doctor home machine but it was too bulky for my quad level and the water tank very small. In fact I returned it for the Hoover and was blown away at the dirty water after I had cleaned with the Rug Doctor jusr two weeks earlier. I'd recommend the Hoover in a heartbeat!

DualV or SteamVac over ProHeat

I have a DualV and a Royal Procision (that's my favorite, but they're expensive and hard to find because they're discontinued). Until last week, I also had a Bissell ProHeat with the bladder system. The Hoover DualV SpinScrub does a good job with excellent suction. The Bissell does a lovely job on the carpet and I like its upholstery tool better (although, to be honest, I think I was using a leftover tool from a SpotBot). The Bissell ProHeats don't suction up as much water (as noted above), so I use electric fans to help dry the areas. I find the bladder tank a bit of a nuisance, too. But the big problem with them is their spray nozzles clog easily from lime in the water or cleaning solution. That's what happened to mine which was less than 15 months old, used fewer than 6 times (I use water and vinegar, but it clogged despite following the extra video instructions on the Bissell site for emptying the hose before putting it away). When that happened, my Hoover DualV needed a new pump (to be fair, it's more than 15 years old, and I've updated its tank and brush head, which is a weak link in its design), and when I walked in the shop, the Royal Procision was sitting there, marked down to an affordable price. I've always wanted one, so I bought it. It's a tremendous machine.

As stated above^^^ The Bissell Proheats do like to clog their spray nozzles, but on the Proheat 2x, they are very easily accessed, no tools necessary. That was the issue with mine when I bought it, but I got it for 50% off on black friday, plus another 25% in store credit, which came out to about $6 total. And it's like brand new. I always use fans to help dry the carpet, but it still takes overnight to dry. If the suction could be improved, the machine would be unbeatable.

Leaving carpets too wet

I had this problem with a Hoover Agility. It was so easy to use and I loved it but it left my berber carpets too wet.....I thought it was because my carpet was so low pile that the suction part that meets the carpet to suck water up wasn't heavy enough pushing into the carpet. I had a thought and tried something: I taped a ten pound hand weight to the top (it didn't get in the way of anything because the tanks were on the side.) I couldn't believe how much more water it extracted from the carpet. I did this for a long time until I got my Rainbow Aquamate 3, then I gave my Hoover to a friend, but I wish I had kept it - not because I don't like the aquamate 3.... I had it 4 years. I don't think they make them anymore.
