Agreed, and since I have perfected the art of liquid latex impregnating leaking but cosmetically decent hoses I may have the suckiest collection of usable vintage hoses around. LOL

Yes Pete, that is the first hose the Golden Jubilee model 1205 came with, The direct connect style was introduced late in the run of blue 1205s with a simple metal handle with a suction adjustment ring near the tip. In Terry's thread 5786 about the Olympic One my blue late style 1205 with this same hose makes an appearance.

We have now established that the Pistol Grip hose made its debut during the early days of the Golden Jubilee and was also made available in blue as a replacement hose for previous models.


Canadian Electrolux's had a differently engineered electric - and non - hose, trigger grip and connection blades setup for the AP series and similarly made those new hoses in colors to match many models, including the 80 series in tan/white when the green and red braid strips ran out.

As I said, my late posting of this picture (from Doug's site) sort of diluted it's impact and relevancy in the discussion. It does show that all hoses exist in their timer and place.

It really is true what they say. You can learn something new everyday. I learned there were different versions of the Golden J just as there were different versions of the 1205.

KirbyKid, thanks for clearing up my confusion about the Saniway box and spray jar. You didn't have to shout though.

So, from looking at the pix in this thread, it appears there are two versions of the hose, two versions of the power nozzle and three versions of the owner's manuals.

Yes! And like Fred stated earlier, virtually all vacuum manufacturers had a continuum or stream of parts and/or accessories and the manuals surely did not keep up with them!

...but folks...remember...the last time we all sqawked about how outrageous a price someone paid for something -- they joined the site! Myself, I was kinda embarrassed.

Again, many reasons why someone would pay such a price. And let's put some of this in a particular perspective. If Stan Kann's collection would go for something along the lines of $1,000.00 per vac, we'd be cheering with joy.

We decry various vacs going to dumpsters and crushers, at the hands of people who don't share the same sentiments we do. Yet when an eBay bidder does share those sentiments in some form or other, and backs it up with their billfold -- we question their sanity.

Sort of a double standard don't you think? People would look in my "showroom" and say "what a bunch of junk." But to me, they're history, they're unique, they're fun, they resonate something good in me.
