My, my, my. Someone tinkled in your Cheerios this morning. If you care so little for this site, then why, may I ask, does the 'ticker' say that you have posted here 257 times? If you care so little for vacuum cleaners, why become a poster on this forum?
I've been a part of this forum for nearly 7 years. I was 13 years old when I discovered Vacuumland and started posting. Granted, I had a different username back then and I took a break from the "sweeper nut" phase somewhere between ages 15 and 18. Now, at age 19 going on 20, the interest has come back with as much energy as it had years ago.
The point of the above statement is this: In all the years I have been a vacuum enthusiast and have been a poster on this forum, I have come into contact with some of the kindest, most genuine people I could ever hope to meet. It is an honor to call many people who are a part of this forum and this club my friends. Some to the point of calling them a part of my family. If it wasn't for other collectors coming together to share in a common interest, however unusual it may seem to the public eye, it would be a very difficult hobby indeed.
So, to use your own logic against you, if collecting vacuum cleaners is a weird hobby, what do you say to people who collect Star Wars, Star Trek, Barbie, Marvel Comics, and other assorted memorabilia? Doesn't that also come across as "weird" to a lot of people?
There's a lid for every pot. In other words, a niche for every interest imaginable in this world and the people in this group are lucky enough to have found theirs. I think it's wonderful that so many people with a common interest can come here and be themselves entirely, not having to worry about people judging them or belittling them for having an interest in vacuum cleaners both old and new.
So yes, while it is a bit of an unusual hobby, it is not, as you say, "weird". If you don't share the interest, that's your business and of course any person on this forum can leave of their own free will at any time. Don't publicly bash and insult those who have a real passion for collecting, restoring, repairing, and acquiring vacuum cleaners. I don't think you would like it very much if I ganged up on you and started making fun of you for something you like that I don't.
Also, it really reflects wonderfully on you that you have your geographic location labeled as "Butthole-ville" and also, in your profile, labeling your name and birthday as "Don't care" and "Screw you" respectively.
Treat others the way you want to be treated, and act your age, not your IQ. Two little sayings that carry more weight in the way of the world than one could ever imagine.
Thus endeth the rant.
