I need suggestions - my Dyson has packed up

Hi all, I don't know if you know but I own a Dyson DC04 De Stijl and it's broken and I can't seen to fix it. When I got it the clutch hose was stuck together with duck tape, at first glance I wasn't too worried at the sight of it but slowly unstuck it's self and the hole became huge, so I stuck it in the corner of my room and left it there since November until I ordered a clutch hose a little while ago, tried putting it on and in one word fixing it is 'impossible'. So I'm taking it to the dump at the weekend when I've got time. But, I'm hooverless! Can't use the Henry as it's downstairs and I can't be bothered to carry it upstairs and downstairs with one hand. So I need a decent, yet cheap hoover a.s.a.p. I'm tempted to bid on a DC04 Absolute +(if it is, not good with hoovers just yet). I'll try winning it and keeping it. If anyone thinks it's going to be kapput after a month with it, tell me and suggest something please! I can only buy used machines and not much more than £25. If someone can run one down to me, that's great! But it'll have to be in Hampshire if I'd have to collect it. MAY get a DC07 if I'm lucky.

What exactly are you looking for? Upright? Cylinder? Bagged? Bagless? Old? New? What are your floors like, do you have a lot of carpet, hardfloor or both? Do you have pets?

That's a shame. But I wouldn't take it to the dump! These De Stijl DC04's weren't very common.

if you want to keep the dyson then get it serviced ive had 3 of my dyson's serviced and the people are so nice and polite, if you want to purchase another machine then i recomend Miele s7, Numatic Henry, Sebo Felix, Dyson dc25, Hoover turbopower 2

Lol! Chris, I'm not really a big Dyson fan, but the DC04 is a pretty decent vacuum

Lol, Joe, I know, I'm just messing around. I'm not a Dyson fan, but the DC04 is my favourite of the lot. I've had a few over the years, they've always been ok. Of the 5 Dyson's my Grandma has owned, the DC04 lasted the longest

You have probably ordered the wrong hose for your Dyson Dc04 - the one you need is a push fit both ends like the one following on the pic - the other type has a rubber push fit at one end and screws on at the other.
You cannot scrap a DC04 DeStijl - they are getting quite rare now and will be the most collectable model in years to come.

Yes, I agree Chris. My favorite Dyson's are the DC04, and the DC24. My DC04 is 10 years old now, and rather mistreated by Mum for many years lol.

When it does decide to go (which I hope isn't anytime soon) I will defiantly buy another DC04.

PS Get a DC14, or DC07 origin, they are good, well yeah, DC04 absolute was my fav Dc04 I had, My uncle has a battered one, it still works, Dyson will be good to you if you be good to it.

Sorry Tayyab, but the DC07 and DC14 were two of the WORST Dysons.

DC01 was a solid machine, well built, pretty reliable but had pretty naff suction power and the floating head didn't do it any favours
The DC03 is probably the worst upright for performance, but it was an interesting design and a solid build
DC04 was similar to the 01 and 03 in terms of quality, but had far greater suction power, the constant contact floorhead, clutch models, HEPA filters etc. A very decent machine
Ths DC07 and DC14, though they had plenty of suction, were pretty appalling in every other way. The 07 is too tall, loud and awkward to use and the build quality was pretty shoddy. The 14 is virtually the same as the 07, but it's a bit more "squashed in" making the machine shorter, but bulky in width. I've also seen far more DC07's and 14's written off than I have 01's and 04's, many of which are still in use.

The uprights since the 14 have all been fine, although I think the build quality of the 40 and 41 is pretty shocking for a cleaner that retails at over £300.

what happened to this thread?!?!?!? Anyway, I am hoping to bid on a DC07, £4.99. I'll hope to win it, wish me luck, and it'll replace the DC04. If not....Steve...you're great, I'll order that as that IS thee one that was/is on my Dyson. I saw the reply on my phone briefly this morning so chucked it in the shed. Don't suppose it sitting outside for a night will kill it? I'll heave it in in a min.

So if I do win the DC07, then DC04 goes to ze skip.

Selling the Dyson

It's not worth it - it's bashed and is a complete wreck now I've tried opening it up to get to the motor.

Or I could get a Hoover Turbopower 2 in Yellow!

Good luck on winning the DC07! and yes, the DC04 stair tool will fit the DC07.

Even if the DC04 is in a state, I'm sure that someone could use it for parts.
