Great! So I can clean under my FRIDGE where nobody ever goes, but still can't vacuum under my BED where the cat goes.


 


I'm sure Alex said something earlier about solving problems that don't actuall exist. Very appropriate.
 
Well you can clean with the low profile tool admittedly you have to use the wand. I would like to see it be able to go under beds etc on future models. That's something Dyson should look at
 
That certainly seems like the next logical design step, Marcus - make the ball smaller to give the machine a lower profile. It would be difficult though, as the motor is in the ball, so Dyson would end up with something not disimilar to Hoover's "the globe", and we'd end up with another lawsuit.
 
Well, I can clean under a bed with my 1993 Hoover Turbopower 2 with ease, "solve the obvious problems that others seem to ignore" I recall in a Dyson commercial, yes, Dsyon, take your OWN advice! and make a vacuum that will go under a bed!
 
digital motors will they be used more in the future?

Certainly a possibility if Dyson can get it to generate the same performance as a normal motor.


 


I don't care what anyone says, the digital slim DOES NOT have the same performance as a mains powerered upright.
 
No it's doesn't. I'm not keen on it to be honest I'd rather the Vax. And the Miele looks good but it's not available here. Think they may come out with a new cordless.
 
For what it is, I don't mind the digital slim. Great for quick picks ups and clean ups inbetween doing a thorough vacuum. But Dyson are trying to market it as a replacement for a full sized vacuum and unfortunately, people are falling for it. Again.
 
i've had mine for quite a while now and is use everyday and honestly it's absolutely fantastic.gets used more than then my vacuum.if a standard person had the cordless they would only have to vacuum to go once a week.
 
It's very noisy the battery only lasts about 6 mins on the Max setting its hugely expensive and doesn't have a HEPA filter but it does clean well for a cordless.
The Vax cordless is a decent machine and with offers you can pick one up at a good price.
I'd like to try the Miele stick VAC it looks good.But I have a feeling they will be bringing out a cordless soon.PS. I know the miele isn't cordless but maybe they will bring a cordless out along those lines. I hope so.[this post was last edited: 2/5/2015-11:48]

Chris, the DC04 is alright, not better than a DC14 in my opinion though. The DC14 has a better design overall, it is stronger, more powerful, parts are easier to find and replace on the DC14 than the 04, the pre filter has a larger surface area, the ducting is wider, etc.

Unless your DC04 is a very late Malaysian model (like the one we got new which was one of the last to be made before they got discontinuned in 2005 as they are pretty strong :)
 
I figured I should just comment in this thread instead of making a new one. What appears to a black gasket fell out from the wand of my DC40. I don't know where it came from. does anyone know whe're it came from? My phone won't let me upload a photo of it. I'll try with my iPad.
 
Your welcome :) I agree with AlexHoovers94, I would advise using a good glue to hold it back in place :) make sure it's clean as well as the wand so that it will stay in properly or the glue might not work so well

It doesn't really look like it

but I finally finished rebuilding my DC41 today. Came from an environment overflowing with pets. I was able to get the smell of carpet fresh out of it by washing the pre-filter with cold water and detergent (just using water wasn't enough to get the smell out), and I took a risk and ran the cyclone pack and bin through my dishwasher (I just let them thoroughly dry and they came out spotless and sanitized).

The old brush bar's bearings were dried out, and the new one arrived today. Really did a great job! I was able to free up one of the (tiny!) siezed ball wheels, and now it rolls around very smooth too. It's a fun vacuum to waltz around the house, and I love the insta-hose for getting into places the cleaner head cannot.

I realized that I may have also had the soleplate on incorrectly. The three tabs in the front had to audibly 'click' into place, and now it's much easier to push, and is cleaning great!

Here it is with the previous-gen TOL model, the AirMuscle, and part of the DC59.

Dyson Digital Slim

I've been using my Dyson DC35 that I was given free by Dyson for the past 3 weeks and have put my DC24 into storage until I move house.

I will keep using the DC35 as my main vacuum cleaner until the end of the month. I've been able to vacuum the hallway, bathroom, kitchen, living room and a tiny bit of my bedroom before the battery cuts out, I then charge it for 3 hours and then vacuum my bedroom. I vacuum my bed due to allergies and the carpet. That's me done. I get this all done after work. It's been fine. I ditched a mains powered vacuum cleaner for now. I know the DC35 isn't doing a 'through' clean, but it's great at extracting dust and debris from the floor.

Dyson customer care is always first class with them providing spare parts under warranty.

My friend purchased a Sebo Felix Eco the other day. I used it and was amazed at how powerful it was for 700 watts. Comparable to the 1300 watt. The swivel design was easy to handle and most of all, I absolutely love how it goes flat to the floor to vacuum under the bed or coffee table. don't like the X4 machine.

Dyson Cinetic feels so much better than a DC40/41/50 with less flexing. But that Big Ball!! Gosh it's way tooo big. I can't vac under the coffee table with that beast!!

i got to play with the dyson kinetic again today and it feels very sturdy but it is quite heavy and quite heavy to push.but i don't mind like a big vacuum.dyson airblade looks like a copy.

The fan is a very good Dyson copy. I purchased it in 2013, at Carrefour in Dubai.

It has a remote control with timer function, swivelling operation. Ahead of when Dyson added that feature on their fans. This model is based on the previous design so its rather noisy when on full blast but it only cost me £30 equivalent British Sterling. I wouldn't spend over £50 on a fan, so I feel that I was very lucky to spot this fan.

They are still being sold in Dubai when I went last year :)
 
I really am loving my DC 40. It is certainly the best Dyson I have used and it makes me want to try some of the other new Dyson models. I may get a cylinder next because I'm not keen on using an upright for above floor cleaning and I like some of the Dyson tools, especially the soft dusting brush.

I still don't like the man, but I am starting to like the vacuums with his name on. Dysons do not feel like quality machines, but at least the performance has improved greatly and the noise levels have reduced to acceptable levels.
