Excellent Kenmore! I'll bet its a hearty vacuum.

Can you use the synthetic HEPA Kenmore "Type O" bags in it? If so, I would highly recommend them. I use those bags in my Kenmore and the suction never seems to quit no matter how full the bag gets. The Kenmore I have is a slightly later model. It's the "Progressive Intelliclean" with the direct drive brush roll, dirt meter, swing open bag door, etc. I replaced the two-row direct drive brush for an identical four-row unit. The performance is insane.

Thanks for sharing!

very nice upright Kenmore

Nice find! I love that area of Kenmore canister and upright they are true work horse ,Its nice that you have attachments and the long hose that you can use whit it happy vacuuming nice to add to the collection once in a while a treat hehe.

I've always liked

the Panasonic uprights from this era, and anything similar (Sharp Twin Energy, Sanyo). Good machines, and clean styling. It's sad that Panasonic is all but leaving the vac business, but at least we can get similar machines from Tacony.

2 questions, anyone knows what month and year my Whispertone was made in? And where can I get a new belt my powermate jr? Thanks!

Early 2000's

These were one of the last Whispertones that Kenmore sold, they were discontinued in favor for the Progressive series. You may not notice but you're actually missing the exhaust cover for this, it would use another filter which can be washed if you want better filtration. Overall nice find you have there, it's one of my favorite Kenmores of all time.

i had a lot of problems with this model where to start when i would but it in bare floor mode it would not stay put and turn the brush on and i would take it to in for repair so many times but on the last time to sears for repair would be last time i just picked it up from the store and two days later i was using it and out of no where it started getting sparking by handle release then it started melting i tossed that kenmore out the door

Hi Panasonicvac! I enjoy your videos and love your vacuums, can you show me what the exhaust cover looks like? I never noticed I was missing a part.

Panasonicvac, that explains why the blankets and other things we’re getting blown, where can I find an exhaust cover?

Hi mr mom, yes I did remember reading your post about your whispertone, that’s really crazy, I hope my whispertone doesn’t do the same thing just like yours did. And when I set the brushroll setting off, the brushroll is still on. Is there a way to get that fixed? Thank you
.

Thanks

Part number for the cover is 4369056 and for the filter is 4368669. Unfortunately both of the parts have been discontinued and the stock for them was depleted. Your only best shot is to find another one used from a different model.

Sounds like you've had a bad experience from Sears. The frame pedal was probably bad and it's uncommon for that to happen. You could've had a vacuum store replace it for you and not just Sears because Sears doesn't manufacture their own products or their parts.

Great machine!

I’ve come across a few of these machines over the years. I would change the belt on a regular basis, they seem to wear fairly quickly on these. I also recommend Kenmore HEPA bags- they protect the motor from dust accumulation. They also keep the bag compartment much cleaner.
