I found a machine i wasn't expecting to....

It's a Panasonic Jet-Flo electronic! I really like it, it picks up excellently and the speeds are fun to play with (i am scared of breaking them though)

I got it for free and i think it even may be quieter than it's 1 speed twin i have!

But i have a few questions about it..

1). How Much did this machine sell for?
2). Where could you buy them?
3). When were they made (from when to when)
4). Are brushroll brushes still available?

My dad got my mother got that same vacuum at a local vac shop that sold Panasonic, during the Xmas season of 1987. I don't know what he paid for it but my mom never liked using the tools because she said the machine had weak suction for tool only cleaning. We had that vacuum at home until it was replaced with a Sharp Twin Energy in 1999. Mom did not like that one either because the tools and hose would never stay together in use. That's neat. Never knew they had an electronic feature model. Panasonics were sold either at vac shops or places like Best Buy / Future Shop (here in Canada) and some of those big furniture/tv/appliance type stores. I'm assuming most of their sales were thru Sears with the Kenmore name on them though.
I like them alot even though they're not very vintagey. They were well made, they're very quiet for an upright, they're easy to use and they don't have that "cheap plastic" feel to them.

in 1986, Consumer reports had the PAnasonic MC6220 as their pick for best Upright.
So I'd date that middle 80's...
Back then Panasonic was not all that widely available, Hoover & Eureka ruled the stores, and nobody had ever heard of things like Dirt Devil or Dyson!
I do remember seeing them here and there in vac shops...

I bought the MC6220 new back in the mid 80s for 185.00 at a Service Merchandise store in the Chicago area.
The 6220 is the three speed version.
The electronic was available at the time but I didn't like the fact you have to adjust the speed everytime you turn it on.
Probably a silly reason at the time but we absolutely loved the 6220.
I set it up with a 10' tuflex hose with a nice set of attachments with chrome fitting and chrome wands.
We passed it to my daughter who is in college in her own apartment.
She absolutely loves that machine.
I bought the Panasonic instead of a Hoover Concept One and I still think I made the right decision.

I sold some of those panasonics in my vac shop back in the 80's.
Took a basic upright home to use, after having a Kirby for
many years. Loved the weight, especially the suction on the
attachments. Was pushing Eureka ESP (burgandy series)
and rebuilt lux's and Kirby's for profit !

That is my daily driver. Bought mine in early 90's, paid about $220 for it and it's worth every penny. Parts are available, at least last time I needed some. I also had the tools but they left much to be desired. The connection is a friction fit and easily pulled out when you tagged on the hose. Got so annoying I bought a canister for any kind of cleaning that required tools.

there are a couple of different sized bags that fit this machine, once or twice I got the smaller ones and they fill rather quickly. I get the micro filtration bags and the local vac shop, easily available. Very nice machine!
