Green Ham 1010 update.
First off, plugging the 8 logo script holes in the lid raises the test suction from 63" to 70".
Second, by pure happenstance when I went to Ellison's vac Shop Wednesday morning to get some 25 watt bayonet base bulbs for the Hooversm while we were chatting about this and that Bill says "hey Dave, here comes your new Best Girl".
Yup, He had called the Lady with the 50th Anniversery 1010 ham a few days earlier and told her to come in and try out the new bags I'd set him up with.
Backtrack - I'd been in when I got back from the Adrian Weekend and discovered for him that a readily available Eureka 'S' bag is also a fan-out design, so by trimming out the inlet hole 1.8" around the edge and gluing on an original or re-created 1010 L bag cardboard mount the problem would be solved and we can all use our Eureka Magic-Aires until the cows don't come home no more.
back to story - Well, her name is Grace, a lady of about 65 years all perky and vibrant and her Mother bought the Eureka 50th Mobile-Aire in about 1957/59 she remembers as a little girl. When Mom passed Grace brought the Mobile-aire home and noticed how much better it vacuumed her house than what she was using. And so it is more or less her daily driver now.
She is thrilled about the bag fix and fascinated about the Eureka ham knowledge I was deluging her with. Naturally I mentioned I would like to have her 1010 when she is done with it and please do not clean off the 50th Anniversary sticker. "We'll talk" says she and we laughed and laughed as I expect her Magic-Aire will be in use quite a few more years. We have exchanged numbers...
