Here's the post I was referencing: http://www.vacuumland.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-VIEWTHREAD.cgi?24497_17

I walked into the thrift store (ultralux88, it was the one you went to go pick up the Comvac) and I wandered to the back where they keep the A/V, computer, and vacuums. I see the famous red and black bag.

I would like to say I didn't get exciting, but uhh... I may* have sprinted over to it and picked it up immediately.

* = anything said afterwords is 100% true.

James (I'm naming it James) has had a harsh life. Luckily, it came to me and will get the complimentary spa treatment and a relaxing position next to his older friend, Scott (my Kirby Classic III)

That bass is a little saggy... The shrinkage from my washer will fix that. (Also, Sears. Y U NO FIX WASHING MACHINE BEFORE WEDNESDAY? If you're curious, my Kenmore Oasis He's water pump is shot and my basin is off centered)

How cute, the Miele I picked up today is trying to get into the shot. Silly Miele, this sub-forum is for the Vintage.

This came out of the bag. Just a reminder that this isn't a shakeout bag. (Those things are disgusting.)

Completely stripped gone. On the other side, the metal lip has been dented in and is causing rubbing. I typically clean up and save the brushrolls, but this one is too far gone. (I couldn't get my Galaxy S3 to focus so this is going to be the best I've got.)

Things I need to do:

Spa treatment as James is crying for help. (I can hear him from the garage)

Replace at least the front bearing, if not the back (the back sounds healthy)

New brushroll and belt (belt is the easy part)

New fill tube

New fan though, this will be the last thing I buy. I can clean up the current one and be fine for a year or so.

Kirby screams from the garage?

Is that why I got a call about the K.B.I out around your house? I thought something was up when I saw those infamous rose-wood Brown squad cars going down the road! Thankfully, all appears well here. Just make sure Scott doesn't call the K.B.I back over a noise compliant!

Saggy bags-that style of hangar wasn't Kirby' s finest. I'm sure you'll have James shiny in no time!

Ah. Thank you Ben. I was actually hoping you'd post the part numbers I need so I can order them.

TASE

So glad you got your infamous Kirby now!!! Love that you name your stuff too!!! Everything I own has a name! I have 121 chainsaws all named, 11 vintage stand mixers, 11 electric hand mixers, 22 vintage clock radios, and 11 vacuums!!! Have fun with James!!!! :) -Michelle

I only started to name them because when I told someone about my collection they replied with,

"You're not one of those freaks that names their things, right?"

I wouldn't be TASE if I didn't try to make people uncomfortable and freak them out, so I decided that they needed names.

TASE

Gotta love freaking people out!!! My husband and I actually were just discussing that last night! For example: people who do not collect assume that in adamant objects get used. I have a lot of chainsaws that will never be used again! My response is to people, "you can't use that saw, don't you know that's "Eggbert!" Naming them only adds to the confusion! Love it! :)

Luxy1205, I know how that is. I have some iMacs and video games that will never be used for real use ever again (I have one of the rarest iMacs nearly brand new and some video games that are really hard to find.)

Thanks BikerRay! I'm going to be buying the front bearings and fill tube today (hopefully.) I at least need those two to get this thing to run. I can snag my brush roll from my Heritage for a bit.

My project is being put on hold.

The Old Man (my grandfather whom I live with) threw away my outer bag since I had it in a trash bag from being at the laundromat.

So I'll be having to buy a new bag to go along with everything else.
