How often do you shampoo your carpets?

Hey guys. Just wanting to know how often you shampoo your carpets?? What factors play into how frequently you do it? Do you have a favorite type of shampooer?

My favorite is my Kirby Rug Renovator. Jus easy to use and put away. Not as thorough as a truck-mounted unit, but it gets the job done. I do it about once per 3-4 months, and sooner if the kids make a mess. (We have 4 under 5.)

I shampoo the entire carpet several (3) times per year. Spots and stains get done as they happen.

Since the Kirby doesn't remove the soap from the rug, I use the Kirby first (with Persil for the shampoo) as a 'scrubber'. Then, ALWAYS, the Hoover Spin Scrub with clean water and a little bit of Downey fabric softener, to rinse all the soap out. The rugs smell great, and are soft and clean. And no static electricity.

For spots and stains, like spilled tea, the Kirby would use useless. A Bissell Spot Pro does the trick for those instances, but my Rainbow and a glass of water would do the same thing.

I would say

Slim to none as i'm not a slob & have a mud room to capture anything before it hits any carpeted area plus my central vacuum keep everything looking great. Surprisingly since I live out in the country where we don't know any better LMAO & have very little ¢¢¢

At home, we have it cleaned about every other year. We hire a professional truck mount steamer to clean the carpets and we would only hire companies like Stanley Steemers that complete background checks and drug screens. Sometimes we would use a Bissell spot and stain removal if we happen to see any spots on the carpet.

Most apartments in college where I'm currently at now does theirs about every 4 months or right when a semester is just about over. Some I see use portable commercial extractors and some I see use truck mount steamers.

Most of my ruga are wool

Orientals.I've sent them ou t to be dunk wasked .I haveused the Hoover steamer on them once or twice, verycarefully.ThebigstaircaseisredKarastan,and my room is white Karastan. I'm repainting my room, as well asr eplacing crown moldings,and making Roman shades.I 'll no doubt use the steamer when all this happens.

I clean in every 3 months. I first remove the tough stains with a stain remover and then I vacuum the carpet thoroughly. I shampoo it when it becomes very dirty. I recently bought a shampoo, the hoover 2X https://www.the-vacmaster.ca/shampoo/ . I am thinking of using it for the next spring cleaning.

With a dog and a kid, About four times a year

I use the Hoover Spin Scrub with Hoover detergent.  I find using other detergents tend to leave  a residue which only speeds re-soiling.


 


About once a year I go back with a white vinegar rinse (about 5oz to the tank of plain water)  to remove the "browning" that occurs with soils that are alkali based as opposed to acid which the alkali detergents remove.  This helps get those traffic lanes.
