VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

I'll give you $1.99 for it on delivery..

but you dont have to, Pete. you have that exquisite Kenmore twin-fan. bet some folks wish they had a Kenmore twin-fan to trade right now...

Rocky Patel

Okay, I took Nigel (my cat) out for some air and noticed my Rocky Patel had a second band indicating "Vintage 1992." Kyle, is my cigar older than you?
I traded a very nice gold Compact for a couple of turquoise junkers with Byron O'Dowd who owns a vacuum shop here in Omaha. It was a win-win because I needed four turquoise Compacts for the robot that is still under construction and his were fairly clean machines.
I have never paid more than $25 for a cleaner but then my head is in a different place (don't need "complete.")
Anyway, Byron is a good man and also rebuilds classic cars. When y'all are in Omaha, you will need to check his stuff out. Many years ago, his wife spotted an old Universal and made sure I got it. (It is a zeppelin now.)

Now Pete...

How can you say these are awful??
This 1973 Golden PowerMaster U49A won 2 ribbons at the 2004 Chicago VCCC convention, one in the cleaning contest, and the other for Best Original machine.

I paid a whopping $2 for this at a church rummage sale!

You don't happen to have a Sears Best Duo Power self propelled in there do you? You know I somehow lost mine last fall on our move east and it's tormented me since.. did I leave it in the house, did I leave it on the driveway or in the garage, did I put it in my partners truck when we ran out of room in the moving van and he tossed it out enroute. Yes I accused him of that!!!!!that's how distraught I am over it's having gone missing LOL I've had cognative therapy, electro-shock, massage therapy, hypnosis, still I can't get over the loss of my beloved green Duo Power

more awful twin fans...

1970 Singer powermaster U45, 1972 Golden PowerMaster U49A, 1975 Golden Powermaster U59, 1978 Singer Commercial, and Sunbeam 2+2

(hiding in the corner is an UPRIGHT Hoover Constellation)

Therapy

I agree with Tom Robbins that psychotherapy has reached the stage in its development that surgery was at when practiced by barbers. Gee, all that therapy and you still can't spell (smile - just funnin')

I do have one green duo power

but its older than the one you had, non self propelled too.
Its yours if you like, until we can find you another one...

Those Singers/Kenmores LOOK very pretty. But the sound (ear damage) and vibration (arthritis-inducing) is the reason I can't use them!

Geeze it looks like you've got a corner on the Twin Fan market there, and nice ones too. Stupid me saw a self propelled twin fan last fall at junkyard/shop close to here but it had sort of been sitting outside under the eaves and I didn't take it.. Would have had to have climbed over mountains of junk to get it...last I went back all the mountain of junk was gone. If'n when you ever get this way you'll have to see this place..not always a lot of vacs but some interesting stuff. You should come by one weekend plus it might give me the incentive to get this place straightened out, or put you to work LOL

my twin fans...

are all older metal base machines(one is missing from the pic, its at Michael's)
While they are not Convertible quiet, they are not as loud as the later plastic machines.
The best runner is the yellow U59. I used to have two green U49a's but I gave one to little Fred.

Pete it took me a while to find the ones I have. The $2 rummage sale find is definitely a treasure!

Thanks, Fred

I got it.
So, does Kyle know to kneel down and recite mantras in front of his new Compact? I never did that with mine, but my grandsons did get a kick out of a motor removal party once.

To have my morning interjection..

Maybe like, twin fans are good because they're crap? in some ways that makes them even more collectible ;p

Jeff P. I agree! I think twin fans are wonderful! THey clean great and they have had so many pleasing colors! I love the BLue onethat Pete had!! Wish i had that one! My fav is the Sumbeam 2+2. I have heard soooooo much about those from Chad! They sound Nice! Keep ahold of yours...TIGHTLY!

I have another Compact that i am trading to another fellow collector and he is giving me this:
